Round 2

[Narrator | Narrator]
The candles gutter and the wind rattles the broken shutters, but the table remains still. Jeane’s finger on the map has drawn attention to the lack of reliable information on the rumored shadow demons; the only certainty is that the tower’s rune‑sealed gate holds the Time‑Splitting Sword, and that its guardians are undead soldiers and a dark sorcerer who may summon demonic aid. The village’s harvest hinges on retrieving the blade before the curse spreads; failure means endless blight and the tower’s malevolent influence reaching every field. The contract is simple: all present will move to the tower’s entrance, breach the gate, locate and secure the sword, and return to the chapel with it. If anyone refuses or wishes to withdraw, the village’s fate falls to the next willing soul. Halie has already voiced her intent; the others must now state whether they stand by the table or step away.

[Jeane | Sorcerer]
Jeane Cromwell leans back, her black wings rustling slightly with the motion, and steeples her fingers with deliberate grace. Gents—she glances around, a flicker of something unreadable in her eyes—and lady, I am not here for heroics or to play savior to some forgotten village. The power within that tower, however, the potential unleashed by such an artifact... A slow smile curls her lips. That is worth consideration. But let us be clear: my participation comes with conditions. First, I lead the magical preparations and any direct confrontations with whatever unholy guardians await. Second, if we secure the sword, I inspect it before it leaves my sight for even a moment—my own protections must be cast, just in case its touch carries more than mere legend. And third, our cut of whatever 'rewards' this venture promises had better reflect the risk and command I bring to this table. So yes, I'll play, but on my terms.

[Halie | Cleric]
I stand up slowly, letting the heavy silence settle. I will go through those woods and into that tower, but not blindly. My voice is firm, measured. We need to speak to Elric first—the hermit at the edge of the trees. He's lived here longer than any of us, surely knows something about what we're facing. And before we breach that gate... I look around the table ...I want a proper blessing on our mission, not just a priestess's trinket. I won't lead us into that darkness without every advantage we can muster—faith included. So yes, I'm in, but only if we prepare right.

[Merrin | Rogue]
I lean back, rubbing my hands together nervously. Listen, I'm no stranger to danger, but this... this is different. I glance at the map, then back up at the others. The tower, the curse, those shadow demons... it's a lot to take on. I hesitate, then add, I'll do it, but I want a share of the reward that reflects the risk. And I want to be in charge of any locks or traps we run into—no one gets through a barrier without me first. I look around the table. We all have our parts to play here, and mine is getting us into places we shouldn't be. So, if everyone's clear on that, then... I nod slowly. I'm in. But let's make sure we're prepared for whatever horrors might be waiting for us in those woods.

[Seraphine | Wizard]
I push my chair back from the table, my eyes fixed on the battered map of the accursed tower. The runes on its entrance gate seem to pulse with a malevolent light in the flickering candlelight. I take a slow breath, steeling myself.
The power we're dealing with here... it's beyond anything most adventurers could comprehend. My voice is soft, almost lost in thought. The Time-Splitting Sword isn't just a legendary blade; it's a nexus of reality-bending magic that could unravel the very foundations of our world if wielded improperly. I look up, meeting each person's gaze in turn. I will go into that tower, yes, but only because the consequences of leaving this curse unchecked are too dire to ignore. However... I pause, my expression hardening with resolve ...if we retrieve the sword, it must be handled with utmost care. No one touches it without proper protective rituals first, and I insist on being the one to conduct those rituals. The risk is mine to bear, but so must be the control over how that power is contained once we have it. I'm in, but under these conditions. The village's salvation may depend on it.

[Varrika | Fighter]
I thump my fist on the table, my scarred face etched with grim determination. Right then, I'll say it plainly. This tower job, facing skeletons and demons... it's a fool's errand. But we've got a village to save from that blight, and if not us, who else will stand up to the darkness? I meet each person's eyes in turn. I'm in, but only on one condition: we make sure everyone's got the right gear and training before we step foot in those woods. No half-measures against something this dangerous. And when we get that sword... My hand tightens around my mace. We use it to end this curse once and for all, no matter what horrors we face inside that accursed place. So, if you're with me, let's make a plan and move out at first light. But if you're not ready to risk everything... I shrug, my voice hardening. Best step aside now before we march into the dark.
