Merrin's crossbow bolts punch through the lead skeleton's skulls, shattering bone and dropping them in pieces. But more immediately fill the gaps, their movements coordinated like soldiers on a battlefield rather than the mindless undead we expected. The air reeks of decay and wrongness, and my skin crawls with the sensation of being watched by ancient, malevolent eyes. Someone has to answer that change now.
