The tower's central chamber rumbled with ancient power as the last of them passed through the gate. The air inside was thick and heavy, resisting their entry like water against stone. Halie moved forward cautiously, her torch held high as she scanned the chamber beyond. The flickering light revealed walls covered in shifting symbols that seemed to absorb the illumination rather than reflect it back.

Jeane stepped up beside her, wings half-spread in a subconscious gesture of defiance against the oppressive atmosphere that clung to them like cobwebs. The sorceress' crimson eyes narrowed as she focused on the symbols etched into the gate itself—they were complex, unlike anything she had ever seen before—arcane sigils intertwined with what looked like warnings or curses. As her fingers traced over one particularly intricate design, it seemed to pulse beneath her touch, sending a jolt of cold energy up her arm.

"Stay back," Jeane called out sharply, stepping away from the gate. "Whatever magic binds this place, whatever entity watches from between these stones—it knows we're here and it doesn't want us leaving." Her voice was steady despite the apprehension coiling cold in her gut. The sword vibrated with warning, its presence a dark beacon.

Merrin's gaze darted between the pulsing rune and Jeane's tense expression, her brow furrowed in concentration. The oppressive malevolence in the air seemed to thicken with every passing moment, and she could feel the hairs on the back of her neck stand on end. "Something's not right," she muttered under her breath, her voice barely audible over the growing hum of dark energy.

Seraphine moved forward next, her sharp eyes scanning the runes on the gate itself. They were complex, unlike anything she had ever seen before—arcane symbols intertwined with what looked like warnings or curses. As her fingers traced over one particularly intricate design, it seemed to pulse beneath her touch, sending a jolt of cold energy up her arm.

"Back away," Seraphine called out sharply, stepping away from the gate. "Whatever magic binds this place, whatever entity watches from between these stones—it knows we're here and it doesn't want us leaving." Her voice was steady despite the apprehension coiling cold in her gut. The sword vibrated with warning. Whatever magic binds it, whatever entity watches from the shadows between these stones—it knows we're here and it doesn't want us leaving.

Varrika stood at the forefront, her scarred hands gripping her mace tightly. The dwarf woman's weathered face was set in a grim expression as she surveyed the chamber beyond—the darkness seemed to press in from all sides, thick and resistant to their entry. She could feel it too—the ancient power that saturated every stone here, the malevolent presence that watched them with unseen eyes.

The ground trembles beneath my feet as the sword's vibration intensifies. I grip my mace tighter, ready to defend the party from whatever threats may lurk ahead.*
