The tower gate looms before them, a yawning maw of darkness and ancient magic. The runes etched into its surface pulse with an ominous violet light, sending shivers down the spines of all present. Jeane approaches first, her crimson eyes narrowing as she traces the intricate patterns with delicate fingers. The dark aura clinging to the stone makes her skin crawl—the unmistakable stench of undeath fills the air.

Halie steps closer, her silver cross catching the weak sunlight. "Those aren't for keeping out the wind," she mutters, more to herself than anyone else. Her blue-grey eyes scan the ancient stonework with practiced caution, searching for telltale signs of magical traps or defenses. She glances back at Merrin, Jeane, and Seraphine, her expression a mix of concern and barely contained apprehension.

Merrin moves forward with that characteristic blend of casual confidence and calculated caution. "Let's see what we're working with," she says, her nimble fingers dancing along the edge of the gate. She searches for hidden latches or pressure plates that could trigger an alarm—or worse, a hail of crossbow bolts from within.

Seraphine approaches, her sharp elven eyes tracing the intricate patterns carved into the ancient stone. "The hermit's map feels woefully inadequate," she murmurs, more to herself than anyone else. "Elric himself had been too afraid to mark the true dangers lurking beyond this threshold." Her fingers hover over the runes, hesitating before making contact.

Varrika moves forward, her hand resting on the hilt of her heavy mace. "Halie, keep an eye out for any magical traps," she calls out, her gravelly voice cutting through the tension. "Merrin, be careful with that lock. We don't want to trigger anything... unpleasant."

The air feels thick with tension and the weight of ancient magic. Each member of the party knows they stand on the precipice of danger—one wrong move could awaken the tower's slumbering guardians or unleash a deadly trap. The choice hangs before them: proceed with caution, turn back while they still can, or push forward into the unknown horrors that await within the crumbling walls.

The runes pulse again, their violet light seeming to intensify for just a moment.
