Merrin crouches beside Seraphine, her sharp eyes scanning the area for any signs of immediate danger. "Can you tell what it does?" she asks quietly. "Because if it's connected to those skeletons or whatever else might be lurking in there, we need to know how to disable it—or at least avoid triggering it." Seraphine's brow furrows in concentration as she continues her examination. "Not yet," she admits reluctantly. "The spellwork is... complex."

Jeane materializes behind them, her spectral form barely visible in the gloom. "This old man stinks of the same foul magic that animated those skeletons at the tower entrance." Her crimson eyes narrow, glowing faintly. "The rogue is sharp..."
