Seraphine's sharp eyes followed Jeane's bold stride into the newly opened passage, her heart pounding a staccato rhythm against her ribs. The demon's words still echoed in her ears—a stark reminder of the precarious nature of their alliance and the sheer audacity of what they were attempting to achieve here in this accursed tower. Her own hands trembled slightly as she gripped the leather-bound tomes clutched to her chest, the ancient scripts within them suddenly feeling like the only stable anchor in a sea of rapidly shifting sands.

The air inside the newly revealed corridor seemed to press in on her, thick with the scent of age and something else—something ancient and unsettling that made the hairs on the back of her neck prickle. The stone walls here were covered in intricate carvings, each symbol glowing faintly with an inner light that pulsed in time with the distant thrumming she'd grown all too familiar with.

Merrin stood nearby, her mace still gripped tightly as she watched their surroundings with the keen-eyed wariness of a creature perpetually prepared for ambush. The halfling rogue had always been their eyes and ears in tight quarters, but now there was an extra tension in her stance, a barely perceptible tremor in her hands that betrayed the fear even her practiced composure couldn't entirely hide.

Jeane, meanwhile, moved with a confidence that bordered on recklessness, her wings half-spread as if ready to take flight at the first sign of danger. The succubus sorcerer had always walked a fine line between bravery and foolhardiness, but now there was an edge to her movements, a barely contained rage simmering just beneath the surface.

The Liminal Wretch had retreated deeper into the passage, its form barely visible in the gloom but its presence unmistakable—a looming shadow that seemed to absorb what little light managed to penetrate this far. Its growls had subsided into a low rumble, a constant reminder of the unseen dangers lurking just beyond their limited vision.

And then there was Halie, kneeling with her head bowed, fingers clutching the silver cross with white-knuckled intensity. The paladin's prayer was a low murmur that seemed to grate against the very stones of this place, each word an act of defiance against the ancient magic that pulsed through everything here.

Seraphine found herself torn between the desire to maintain her arcane vigilance and the urge to simply flee this cursed tower before it claimed them all. Her fingers traced the cover of her spellbook almost unconsciously, seeking comfort in the familiar leather and ink-stained pages even as her mind raced through possibilities—magical wards that might offer protection, incantations that could buy them time, or perhaps some forgotten bit of lore that would explain exactly what manner of entity they'd unwittingly angered.

But for now, all she could do was watch and wait, heart pounding in sync with the ancient magic that thrummed through the stones beneath their feet—a reminder that they were but intruders in a place where mortals were not meant to tread.
