Phase: converging

The stones groaned as the tower's main gate swung open, revealing a corridor that stretched into darkness beyond. The air inside was thick with dust and something else—an old magic that made the hair on the back of Merrin's neck stand up. She paused at the threshold, her hand instinctively going to the dagger at her belt. Seraphine stepped forward, her staff held ready, eyes scanning the shadows for any sign of movement. "Stay close," she warned, her voice barely above a whisper. "Whatever opened this gate, it wasn't friendly." The runes on the walls seemed to pulse in response to their presence, their light casting eerie patterns across the stone. Jeane followed, her wings tucked tight against her back, eyes darting from side to side. She could feel the magic in the air, thick and alive, pressing against her skin like a physical weight. "This place is... wrong," she muttered, more to herself than anyone else. "The magic here isn't natural." Merrin took another step forward, into the corridor proper. The stone underfoot was slick with dust and something that might be ancient water...
Suddenly, a low growl echoed from beyond the darkness, and a pair of glowing eyes materialized in the shadows, watching the party with cold calculation. The runes on the walls pulsed faster, their glow intensifying as if in challenge.

The runes pulse faster now, their light harsh and unforgiving. I don't like this. We're blind here—can't see around corners or through solid rock the way some can. And whatever made that sound... it knows we're here. "Everyone," I say, voice low but sharp enough to...
I feel the hair on the back of my neck stand up as that growl echoes through the corridor. Whatever made that sound is no ordinary beast—this is a place of magic, and we're trespassing in its domain. My hand tightens on the hilt of my dagger, the worn leather of the grip familiar under my fingers. I've faced down creatures before, but never anything like this. The runes on the walls seem to pulse in time with my heartbeat, their glow casting strange shadows that dance and twist in the corne...
I feel the cold air of the tower on my skin, raising goosebumps where the sweat has chilled from our journey. The growl echoes again, deeper now, vibrating in my bones. My staff feels warm and alive in my hands, its magic thrumming against my palms, ready to answer my call. This isn't a simple beast—this is an ancient power, awakened by our presence here. The runes on the walls pulse with an eerie light, their symbols shifting slightly as if they were written in a living language. "I ca...
