The sound of rushing water echoed through the ancient stone corridors, growing louder with each passing second. Merrin clutched the glowing shard tighter, its light casting eerie shadows across the cramped crevice walls. "We need to move," she hissed, her voice barely audible over the roar. Quickly!" She shifted Varikka's weight more securely across her shoulders, ignoring the protests from her own aching muscles. The fireman's carry was becoming increasingly difficult to maintain, but there was no other choice.

As Merrin stumbled forward into the darkness, she could feel the cold stone floor vibrate beneath her feet. The sound of collapsing rock and rushing water filled her ears, and she knew they were running out of time. "Varikka," she called out, her voice strained with effort. "Stay conscious. We're almost there." She could feel the weight of her friend pressing down on her shoulders, a constant reminder of their precarious situation.
