Jeane's crimson eyes narrowed as she surveyed the ominous passage before them. The air felt thick and wrong, alive with a malevolent energy that prickled her skin. Her wings instinctively tightened, a subconscious gesture of defensiveness. "Well," she said, her voice dry with barely-concealed apprehension, "staying here means waiting to drown or be buried under collapsing rock. Forward it is." She took a step into the darkness, her hand resting casually on the hilt of her heavy mace—a posture that suggested readiness rather than fear.

Seraphine followed, her heart hammering a frantic rhythm against her ribs. The air in this new passage was thick with an ancient, oppressive energy that made the hairs on her arms stand on end. It felt like stepping into the very throat of some slumbering beast—a sensation both thrilling and terrifying. The faint glow ahead did little to dispel the darkness, casting long, distorted shadows across the roughly hewn stone walls. Every sound they made seemed magnified in this confined space—the whisper of her robes against the rough-hewn floor, the soft scuff of their boots. She could feel the weight of the unknown pressing down from above, the ancient stone groaning under its own immense weight.

The passage ahead forked into two directions—left and right. Both branches disappeared into deeper darkness, each promising its own set of unknown dangers or potential salvation. Jeane paused, her gaze shifting between the two options. "Which way?" she asked softly, her voice barely disturbing the oppressive silence.
