Phase: converging

The stormy sky deepened by the minute, casting long, ominous shadows across the desolate landscape as Jeane stepped forward, her crimson eyes fixed intently on Gravedigger Renn, who cowered in the shadows. The air was heavy with tension as Renn stammered out a hasty narrative, his words tumbling forth in a mixture of fear and desperation. He described hidden tunnels beneath Gravehill, some leading to ancient burial chambers filled with treasures and relics from a long-lost civilization, while others seemed to shift and twist like living things, leading nowhere or perhaps even to places best left unexplored.
Jeane's eyes narrowed as she considered Renn's words, weighing the value of their terrified informant. The storm overhead cracked again, closer now, and the wind picked up, sending the city guard moving closer with their torches casting flickering light across the ash-choked street. Silra moved toward the church entrance at a controlled pace, her right hand resting on the rusted key from the dead magistrate in her pocket, ready to unlock whatever secrets lay within.
Sister Hale approached Renn with measured steps, her silver holy symbol at the ready, her eyes fixed on the quivering informant. "Wait," she called out to Silra as she moved toward the dark doorway, her voice soft but firm. "Renn's terror is real—I've seen enough of it to know that we must tread carefully." As they entered the church, the darkness swallowed them whole, and the air was heavy with the scent of old stone and secrets sealed too long.
