I am Sister Hale, and I carry the burden of my faith into these dark streets. My compassion for those who suffer drives me forward, even when common sense screams to back—like that Gravedigger who ran at the first sign of trouble. But this is what it means to truly serve: not to flee from evil because it is frightening, but to face it because it is wrong. The storm howls around us; ash stings my skin through my habit, but I will not waver in my purpose. I will be the steady hand that guides these women—Jeane with her sorcerer's fire and Silra with her rogue's shadow—and together we will uncover what festers beneath this city. And if there is a spirit to be saved or a soul to be judged, I will be ready to act.
