Phase: converging

The air in the crumbling stone tower grew heavier with each passing moment, pressing down on them like a physical weight. The ancient stones seemed to groan around them, settling under their combined presence as if the very structure resented their intrusion. Merrin's sharp eyes darted across the chamber, taking in every detail while trying not to linger too long on the pulsing runes that crawled across one wall like living shadows. She could feel the wrongness of this place seeping into her bones, a chill that had nothing to do with the damp stone and everything to do with something far more sinister at work.
Jeane moved back from the wall carving, her wings half-spread in an instinctive gesture of defensiveness. The sorceress's crimson eyes narrowed as she studied the shifting sigils, her fingers twitching with barely restrained magical energy. "This isn't just corruption," she murmured, more to herself than to the others. "This is something ancient and deliberate—something that was meant to stay sealed away." Her gaze flicked to Merrin, who was moving across the room with practiced efficiency despite the oppressive atmosphere. "Careful, love—if we're not careful here, whatever's in this tower might decide we're more trouble than we're worth."
Halie stepped forward, raising her silver cross so its light spilled across the wall carving. The soft gleam of the metal caught on the shifting runes, making them writhe and twist under the holy symbol's scrutiny. "Merrin," she said, her voice barely above a whisper but carrying an edge of command that made both women pause. "Step back from that carving." The wrongness here pressed against her skin like physical weight—this wasn't just unnatural energy, it was reality bleeding through something that should never have been opened. Whatever this was, it felt like a rotting tooth—if you prod it too hard, it was going to poison them all.
The three women stood there in tense silence, the air thick with unspoken apprehension and the faint hum of hidden magic. The tower seemed to hold its breath around them, waiting to see what they would do next.
