The air in this ancient tower was thick and heavy, resisting their passage like a physical barrier. The stone walls seemed to pulse faintly with a malevolent rhythm, shadows writhing unnaturally in the flickering torchlight. Each footstep echoed ominously in the oppressive silence, the sound swallowed by the gloom before it could travel far.

Varrika moved forward cautiously, her heavy boots scraping against loose stone. The dwarf's hand tightened around the haft of her mace, knuckles whitening as she scanned the darkness ahead. "We're not alone in this heap of rocks," she growled, barely above a whisper. "Something's here, and it don't want us poking around." She turned to face Jeane, her expression grim. "You sure about this? That corridor with the pulsing sigils..."

Jeane's crimson eyes narrowed as she focused on the lingering traces of dark energy still clinging to the stonework. The sorceress could feel it—like a cold hand reaching out from between the stones, trying to ensnare them in its grasp. "We need to find another way up," she said softly, her wings twitching with barely contained unease. "Those sigils weren't just warnings; they were active seals holding back whatever's inside." She turned to Merrin, her expression stern despite the apprehension in her eyes. "Stay sharp and quiet, I meant what I said. One wrong move could bring this whole cursed place down on our heads."

Merrin moved closer to Halie, her hand resting lightly on the halfling's shoulder—a gesture both protective and restraining. The rogue's dark eyes scanned the shadows, searching for any sign of movement or hidden threats. "Something's not right," she murmured, echoing Merrin's words but infusing them with a gravity the younger woman seemed to lack. "This whole tower feels... wrong. Like the stones themselves are screaming." She moved closer to Merrin, her hand resting lightly on the halfling's shoulder—a gesture both protective and restraining.

The air grew heavier with each step downward, the silence more oppressive than before. The tower seemed to be alive around them now, breathing in darkness and exhaling ancient malice. Varrika led the way, her heavy boots echoing ominously in the cavernous space. The dwarf clutched her mace tightly, eyes darting between the shadows cast by the flickering torchlight.

Jeane fell back slightly, her wings half-spread for balance as they descended a crumbling staircase. The sorceress' gaze remained fixed on the walls and ceiling, searching for any sign of magical traps or weaknesses in the structure. Her crimson eyes glowed faintly in the dim light, a visible manifestation of her concentration.

Merrin brought up the rear, her keen senses on high alert. The halfling rogue moved with practiced stealth, each step calculated to minimize noise and disturbance. She could feel the weight of the tower pressing down upon them, the air thick with an unseen presence that made her skin crawl.

The corridor opened into a larger chamber, the ceiling so high above that it vanished in darkness. In the center of the room, a circle of crystals pulsed with an eerie red glow, their energy beating in sync with Merrin's racing heartbeat. The sound of chanting drifted from somewhere beyond—a low, guttural rumble that seemed to vibrate through the very stones.

Varrika stopped at the threshold, her scarred face set in a grim expression. "This is it," she growled, more to herself than to the others. "The heart of this cursed place." She glanced back at Jeane and Merrin, her eyes reflecting both determination and apprehension. "Stay close, and stay sharp. We've got no idea what's waiting for us in there."

Jeane moved forward cautiously, her wings half-spread for balance as they descended a crumbling staircase. The sorceress' gaze remained fixed on the walls and ceiling, searching for any sign of magical traps or weaknesses in the structure. Her crimson eyes glowed faintly in the dim light, a visible manifestation of her concentration.

Merrin brought up the rea.
