Phase: converging

The corridor's mouth yawned darkly ahead, a throat lined with symbols that pulsed like diseased veins in the gloom. Merrin crouched at the threshold, her keen halfling eyes scanning every inch of the stonework for traps or ambush points. The air tasted wrong—like old blood and ozone—and her roguish instincts screamed warnings she couldn't quite put into words.
Jeane stepped forward, drawn by a dark fascination that warred with her sorcerer's survival instincts. Her crimson eyes narrowed as she studied the pulsing symbols, dark energy crackling between her fingers in an involuntary response to the ancient malevolence that saturated the space. This wasn't just undead taint—this felt like something had bled into the very stone itself.
Halie's face twisted with disgust as she breathed in the corrupted air. "I don't care what Varrika says about our supplies," she hissed, pulling her silver cross necklace tighter. "We are not walking into an obvious demonic feeding ground with nothing but bread and water between us and whatever's lurking in there." Her divine senses screamed warnings that even her exhaustion couldn't dull.
Seraphine moved closer to the threshold, her sharp elven eyes tracing the intricate patterns of the symbols. The air around them crackled with an ancient, malevolent energy that chilled her to the bone. "The corruption is thick here," she murmured, more to herself than anyone else. "This isn't merely undead taint we're dealing with." Her fingers twitched, eager for the familiar comfort of spell components and arcane calculations.
Varrika eyed the ominous corridor warily, her weathered face etched with concern. The pulsing symbols on the walls seemed to writhe before her eyes, their dark energy palpable in the air. "We're dancing with demons here, lasses," she grunted, her gravel-edged voice tinged with grim warning. "Those marks ain't no mere runes—someone or something bled this place full of malice."
