Seraphine stood at the threshold of the newly revealed corridor, her sharp elven eyes straining against the oppressive darkness that seemed to cling to the stone walls like a living thing. The air itself felt thick and heavy, pressing down on them all with an almost physical weight, making each breath an effort. She could feel a faint but insistent pulse of dark energy coming from the breathing symbols carved into the walls, their patterns shifting and rearranging themselves with an unsettling purpose.

This is beyond mere decay, she thought, her fingers tightening around the ornate staff in her hands. This place has been corrupted on a fundamental level. The magic here was ancient and malevolent, twisting the very fabric of reality to suit its dark purposes. She could feel it seeping into the stone itself, into the very air they breathed.

We need to proceed with extreme caution, she warned silently, her gaze flicking to the other members of their party. One wrong step could trigger a trap or release something far worse. The thought sent a shiver down her spine, but she pushed it aside, focusing on the task at hand.

Varrika moved closer to the corridor entrance, her scarred face set in a grim expression as she peered into the darkness. The air here felt wrong—heavy and oppressive, like something was actively trying to suffocate them all. She could feel the whispers growing louder, a constant susurrus that grated against her nerves.

This place is crawling with dark magic, she thought, gripping her mace tighter. And I don't like being blind in a situation like this. She knew better than to rush into unknown dangers, but every instinct screamed at her to get out of this cursed tower as quickly as possible.

Jeane approached the corridor cautiously, her wings tucked close to her body for now. The breathing symbols on the walls pulsed with dark energy—this wasn't natural magic at work here. Something ancient and malevolent had taken up residence in these stones. Halie was right; this place felt wrong down to the bone.

We need to know what we're dealing with before we stumble into a trap—or worse, she thought, her crimson eyes scanning the shifting patterns on the walls. And I can't let my fear stop me from doing what needs to be done. She took a deep breath, steeling herself for what was to come.

Detect Magic, she whispered, focusing her will and channeling arcane energy through her fingertips. A faint blue glow emanated from her hands, spreading out to trace the outline of the breathing symbols on the walls. They pulsed with dark energy, each one connected to the others in a complex web of corruption.

This is beyond mere protection magic, she realized with growing horror. These symbols are feeding on something—probably souls. The thought sent a chill down her spine, but she forced herself to maintain the spell, gathering as much information as possible.

The magic here is too strong for me to dispel alone, she concluded after several tense moments. We need to find another way through—or risk unleashing whatever's trapped in this corridor.

Varrika, Halie—we can't go in there blind, she said, turning to face the others. The magic on those walls is too powerful, too... alive. She shuddered involuntarily at the thought. We need to find another route to the upper levels—or at least a way to disable that magic before we proceed.

But first, she added, her gaze lingering on the darkness beyond the threshold, we need to deal with whatever's already in there.
