Phase: converging

The party stands before the crumbling stone tower, its entrance sealed by an ancient rune-covered gate deep within the haunted Whispering Woods. The tension in the air tightens for a beat as the interruption refuses to go away, and everyone is forced to stay quiet and choose their next move carefully.
Jeane surveys the tower with her crimson eyes, sensing the raw, untamed magic that sets her succubus blood humming with anticipation. The others stand clustered together, their faces etched with apprehension. They're expecting her to lead, to have some grand plan or arcane trick up her sleeve. And they'd be right to expect it—I am Jeane, after all.
Halie nods slowly, her blue-grey eyes meeting each party member's in turn. "Jeane is right," she says softly. "We should know what we're facing before we walk into that cursed place." Her hand tightens around her heavy mace, feeling its solid reassurance. "But reconnaissance alone won't be enough. We need a plan for how to proceed once we have information." She meets Merrin's eyes directly. "Tell us what you sense. Then we decide together."
Merrin glances between Jeane and Halie, taking in their expressions of apprehension and concern. Her gaze lingers on the crumbling stone tower looming before them, its ancient masonry streaked with age and neglect. The air feels thick with tension, as if the very stones are holding their breath in anticipation. Her hands twitch at her sides, eager to do something—anything—but she forces herself to remain still. As their resident lockbreaker and scout, it's her job to be the eyes and ears of the party. To see what others can't, to hear what others won't.
Seraphine listens intently as Jeane reports what she senses of the tower's magic, her eyes narrowing with concern behind her spectacles. The raw power she describes is not unlike the forbidden tomes she's studied, each line a whisper of ancient secrets and terrible costs. Her hand instinctively tightens around the heavy mace at her belt, the weight a familiar comfort against the unknown dangers ahead. As Merrin prepares her crossbow, Seraphine takes a step closer to Jeane, lowering her voice so only she can hear...
Varrika studies the crumbling stone tower before them, her hand resting on the comforting weight of her mace at her hip. The air is thick with tension and the weight of untold years. She can practically taste the decay on her tongue. Jeane's words about the raw magic she senses send a shiver down Varrika's spine. As a dwarf, she's seen her share of ancient sites, but there's always an edge to places like this—a feeling that something is just waiting to wake up and bite you. She turns to Jeane, her voice a low growl. "Are we really doing this? Walking into the lair of undead horrors and dark sorcerers?"
