Phase: converging

The air crackles with residual dark energy as Merrin steps forward, her keen eyes scanning the gloom beyond the now-open gate. The corridor stretches deep into the heart of the tower—away from the crumbling walls and towards what appears to be a more... intact section. The halfling scout's fingers twitch at her side, aching to grab a weapon or flee from this place of old magic and dark purpose. But she forces herself to stay still, watching intently as the ancient stones grind apart with a sound like the earth itself tearing.*
Varrika steps up beside Merrin, her greatsword held at the ready as she glares down the corridor. "Looks like we've got company," she growls, her voice a low rumble. "And I don't think it's here for tea and crumpets." The dwarf warrior's grip tightens on her weapon, her knuckles white against the worn hilt. This is beyond anything they've faced before—a magic so old and powerful that it seems to recognize their very presence.*
Jeane moves to join Merrin and Varrika at the threshold, her crimson eyes gleaming with a mixture of exhaustion and barely contained excitement. "Well," she says softly, "that was... unexpectedly effective." The succubus sorcerer's long white hair shifts as she tilts her head, studying the now-open gateway with keen interest. Her dark leather wings are half-spread for balance, a subtle reminder of her otherworldly nature. "I must admit, I didn't expect the portal to collapse quite so... dramatically." She turns to face the rest of the group, her expression grave despite the triumph evident in her voice.*
Halie moves forward as well, her holy symbol clutched tightly in her fist. "We did it," she breathes, her blue-grey eyes wide with a mixture of awe and lingering fear. The weary human woman's soft brown hair shifts as she tilts her head, studying the corridor with a cleric's keen interest. "But... what now?" Her gentle face is set in determination, but there's an undeniable tension in her shoulders—a recognition that their victory over the ward spirit was merely the first test of many.
Seraphine steps to Halie's side, her sharp gaze fixed on the darkness beyond the gate. "Now," the elf scholar says, her voice cool and measured despite the obvious adrenaline still coursing through her, "we find out what's really waiting for us in there." She gestures to the corridor with a graceful wave of her hand, arcane symbols still glowing faintly around her fingertips. "The ward was just... security. The real question is whether whatever's inside that tower is friend or foe—and more importantly, whether it has the Time-Splitting Sword we came here to find."
