Phase: converging

Jeane’s crimson eyes flash with dark amusement as she steps forward, her leathery wings stretching wide behind her in an intimidating display. The liminal wretch’s words twist something deep within me—this creature speaks of essence and sacrifice as though they’re mere currency to be bartered. Her gaze flicks to Halie, concern evident beneath her usual sardonic exterior. I step closer to her, the air between us charged with dark magic and unspoken tension. You needn’t face this alone, little priestess. I’ve dealt with far more insidious temptations than this... thing. My voice drops to a low purr, barely audible over the creature’s hissing words. Besides, consuming your essence would be far more satisfying for me than letting this wretch have it.
Merrin shifts her weight from foot to foot, crossbow held loosely in her hands as she watches the unfolding drama with calculating eyes. As Jeane steps closer to Halie, offering to take on the creature’s temptation herself, I feel a surge of both relief and unease. Relief because she’s clearly willing to protect our cleric, but unease because... well, because Jeane is Jeane. Her offer to consume Halie’s essence, though phrased as protection, carries its own distinct flavor of danger. I clear my throat softly, drawing attention without interrupting the tense negotiation. Perhaps we should consider all our options before—
Varrika steps forward, her scarred face set in a grim expression, mace held ready in her hands. This creature’s temptation is too much of a risk—we can’t trust it won’t simply take what it wants regardless of our choices. Her gaze shifts to Jeane, taking in the swirling dark magic around her with obvious unease. And while I respect your power, Jeane... this feels like trading one danger for another. She turns to address both Halie and Merrin, her voice firm but not confrontational. Halie, Merrin—we need to think this through carefully. Jeane’s offer is generous, but we don’t know what consuming essence might do to someone already bound by dark magic.
