The air around them seemed to crackle with anticipation as Halie and Seraphine stood before the tower’s sealed entrance, the ancient runes pulsing with an ominous light. The weight of their decision hung heavy between them—should they attempt to outsmart the guardian spirit through cunning and diplomacy, or was there another way?

“I don’t like it,” Seraphine admitted, her sharp eyes scanning the ominous runes etched into the stone. “We came here for a reason, but at what cost? Every spell we cast, every word we speak... it feels like we’re dancing on the edge of a blade.”

Halie nodded solemnly, her blue-grey eyes reflecting the faint glow of the magical symbols before them. “I know. But we can’t turn back now—not when we’re so close to finding the sword.” She paused, her gaze dropping to the ground before meeting Seraphine’s with renewed determination. “We need to be smarter about this. More... subtle.”

Seraphine raised an eyebrow, a flicker of amusement crossing her features despite the gravity of their situation. “Subtle? Halie, when have you ever been subtle?”

Halie bristled slightly at the teasing tone but couldn’t help a small smile tugging at the corner of her mouth. “I can be subtle when it matters,” she retorted softly. “And right now, it very much matters.”
