Round 13 Transcript
Episode 1 · Episode Round 1

As Halie continues her diplomatic approach, the shadow creature's tendrils of darkness seem to recoil in response, forming a loose, amorphous shape that appears to be listening intently. The air around them grows heavy with anticipation, and for a moment, it seems as though the entity might consider Halie's words. Suddenly, Jeane's banishment spell is triggered by Varrika's warning, and a blast of magical energy erupts from her outstretched hand. The entity lets out a deafening screech as it's enveloped in a blinding flash of light, its form beginning to distort and writhe like a living thing. When the light fades, the entity has vanished, leaving behind only a faint echo of its presence and the lingering scent of decay. The party is left standing in stunned silence, their faces etched with a mix of relief and trepidation. Halie's eyes are fixed on Jeane, her expression a mixture of gratitude and concern. "What have we done?" she whispers, her voice barely audible over the sound of their own ragged breathing.
I stand there, stunned for a moment, my heart still pounding in my chest. The remnants of dark magic still cling to my skin like a bad omen. What... what did you do? My voice is soft but sharp as I turn to face Jeane, my blue-grey eyes filled with concern and something that might be anger. That thing wasn't just some... some inky monster. It was old, powerful—maybe even sacred in its own way. And you just... banished it without a second thought? I take a step closer, my hands clenching into fists at my sides. Do you have any idea what kind of consequences that might have? For this place? For us? My gaze flicks to the others, lingering on Merrin and Varrika before returning to Jeane. We're here for the Time-Splitting Sword, yes. But we can't just leave a trail of desecrated spirits in our wake. There has to be more at stake than our personal gain. I take a deep breath, trying to calm my racing thoughts. I'm not saying you were wrong—I know better than most how dangerous these ancient entities can be. My hand unconsciously moves to the silver cross around my neck, a familiar comfort. But next time? Maybe... maybe we should actually consider what Halie's trying to say before jumping straight to force. I look away, focusing on the now-silent darkness of the tower entrance. Besides... I've got a bad feeling about this. The air feels wrong—like something important was just... broken. With that, I turn back to the group, my expression showing both concern and a trace of something harder. We move forward with caution. And next time? We at least try to understand what we're dealing with before unleashing more magic. Deal?
I watch Halie confront Jeane, her words striking a chord deep within me. The air still crackles with the fading energy of the banishment spell, and I can feel the lingering residue of the shadow creature’s presence, like a phantom ache in my bones.
Halie is right. We came here for a reason—to find the Time-Splitting Sword—but at what cost? Every act we take, every spell we cast, could have unforeseen consequences in this ancient place.
I turn to face Halie directly, my expression serious as I meet her gaze. "You speak wisdom, Halie. That spirit was clearly a guardian of some kind—perhaps the very power that sealed this tower. To simply banish it without understanding its purpose... it could be the undoing of everything we seek to achieve here."
My mind races, trying to piece together the fragments of what just happened. "The energy of its departure felt... wrong. Not just a physical absence, but something deeper. A stability, a balance in this place that has now been shattered."
I look at Jeane, my voice softening with concern despite the gravity of the situation. "Your banishment was powerful, no doubt. But power without wisdom is a dangerous thing in a place like this. We must be more careful in the future."
My attention shifts back to the tower entrance, where the rune-covered gate looms ominously. "Whatever we do next... it should be with intention and understanding. The consequences of our actions here could echo far beyond these walls."
Halie's words about the possibility of something more at stake than just the sword echo in my mind. What if this entity was a key to protecting this place from greater evils? What if its banishment has now left a gaping hole that cannot be filled?
I take a deep breath, steeling myself for what lies ahead. "Whatever happens next, we face it as a group. And next time... we let Halie try her diplomacy first. It could save us all."
With a final nod to Halie, I turn back to the gate, my staff held ready in my hands. The Time-Splitting Sword is still our goal, but now we must tread even more carefully than before. Every choice matters in this cursed tower, and the wrong one could seal our fate as surely as it has trapped countless others within its walls.
