Round 6 Transcript
Episode 1 · Episode Round 1

The faint blue glow of the breached wall intensifies, bathing the narrow corridor beyond in an eerie light. Merrin's dagger still quivers with tension as she moves cautiously ahead, her eyes scanning for any sign of movement. Halie's holy symbol shines brightly on her chest, casting a protective aura over the group. As they proceed deeper into the tower, the air grows thick with the scent of decay and something else—a faintly metallic tang that seems to cling to the back of Merrin's throat. The silence is oppressive, punctuated only by the faint creaking of ancient wooden beams and the soft rustle of dust motes dancing in the faint light. A few paces ahead, a door slams open by itself, its hinges shrieking in protest. The force of the blast sends Halie stumbling backward, her holy symbol clutched tightly to her chest. Varrika readies her crossbow, her eyes fixed intently on the doorway as if willing the answer out of the darkness within.
Halie staggers back, her holy symbol clutched tightly in both hands. This place... it's wrong. The air itself feels tainted, like we're walking through something ancient and malevolent. She looks around at the group, her blue-gray eyes filled with a mix of fear and determination. We can't just rush in blindly. Whatever force slammed that door open, it knows we're here now. We need to proceed with extreme caution. She steps forward, her heavy mace held ready, but her gaze is fixed on the darkness beyond the doorway.
I'll go first—my holy symbol might offer some protection against whatever lies ahead. Merrin and Varrika, keep your guard up. Seraphine, be ready to cast protective wards or blast anything that moves. And Jeane... She turns to the sorcerer. Can you sense any magical traps in the corridor beyond? Without waiting for a response, Halie takes a deep breath and steps forward, her footfalls echoing ominously off the ancient stone walls.
As she enters the corridor proper, Halie's keen senses immediately detect something amiss. The air is thick with magic—ancient and dark—and the very stones seem to pulse with an unnatural energy. She can hear a faint sound, like whispered voices carried on the dust-laden breeze.
This place... it's alive somehow, she hums. Can anyone else hear that? It sounds like... like people talking, but so quiet. She shudders involuntarily. Whatever happened here, whatever created these... things... out front—this tower is still filled with its power. Despite her misgivings, Halie presses onward, her faith and her duty driving her forward. She knows they must find the Time-Splitting Sword, no matter the cost.
We can't turn back now—not after coming this far. But we need to be prepared for anything. Whatever's waiting in here... it might not be what we expect. Her grip on her mace tightens as she listens intently for any response from the darkness ahead.
I step forward, my crossbow at the ready and my eyes scanning the darkness ahead. The air is thick with an ancient, malevolent energy that makes my skin crawl.
Halie's right. This place feels wrong—like we're walking into a trap. But we don't have a choice. We need to push forward, find that sword, and get out of here as quickly as possible. I glance over at Merrin. Keep your dagger ready. And watch for any signs of movement in the shadows. My gaze shifts to Seraphine. And you—be on the lookout for any magical wards or traps. We don't want to set off anything that could collapse this whole place on our heads. As we move deeper into the corridor, I can feel my heart pounding in my chest. The darkness seems to press in on all sides, as if it's trying to suffocate us.
Stay close together, I mutter. And keep your eyes open. Whatever's waiting for us in here... it's not going to be pretty. I take a deep breath and step forward, my crossbow aimed at the darkness ahead. I know we're walking into danger—maybe even death—but I also know that the Time-Splitting Sword is worth the risk. And so, with a heavy heart and a prayer to whatever gods might be listening, I press on into the unknown depths of the tower.
I step forward into the corridor, my wings instinctively half-spreading as if to shield us from whatever lies ahead. The magic here is thick—older and darker than I've ever felt before. It's like trying to breathe through water, this pressure. My fingers trace arcane patterns in the air as I scan for magical traps or wards.
Halie, your symbol might protect you personally, but we need a wider defense against whatever enchantments are layered into these walls. I focus my will, drawing on that inner reserve of power. I'm casting a general ward—it'll absorb minor magic and give us warning if something big activates ahead. As the spell takes hold, the air around us shimmers faintly with my blue sorcerous light, overlaying the eerie glow from the doorway. Now move forward in formation. Merrin on point for her stealth, Varrika behind with crossbow ready, Halie beside her as our frontline tank and healer if needed, Seraphine at rear where she can cast without being pulled into melee. I'll walk parallel to you all—able to respond magically or shield us from either side. I pause before we advance further. And everyone be aware: whatever slammed that door wasn't natural mechanics. This tower is alive in some way, and it knows we're here now. We need to find the sword quickly and get out before its deeper defenses fully activate. My eyes narrow as I listen to the faint sounds Halie mentioned. You heard whispers? That's not good—ghostly echoes or something actively trying to unsettle us. Stay sharp. Whatever happens next, it'll be fast and nasty.
