Round 924 Transcript
Episode 1 · Episode Round 1

Varikka's eyes widen in alarm as she realizes her ankle will not support her weight, and Merrin catches her just in time to prevent her from falling. The dust settles around them, and for a moment, there is an oppressive silence, broken only by the faint hum of the Time-Splitting Sword. The Guardian's distant roars grow louder, echoing off the crumbling walls as the tower groans around them. A section of the chamber's ceiling collapses, sending a shower of rubble hurtling towards Varikka and Merrin. They both dive for cover, narrowly avoiding the worst of it. The air is thick with dust, and the smell of decay wafts through the air, mingling with the acrid scent of smoke.
I catch Varikka just as her ankle gives out, keeping her from falling into the rubble. The Time-Splitting Sword pulses in my hand, its power surging through my veins like liquid fire. "Careful," I mutter, helping her steady herself against a crumbling wall. The Guardian's distant roars grow louder, echoing off the chamber walls as the tower groans around us. I glance at Varikka's face, seeing the pain etched in every line. "Can you put any weight on that ankle?" I ask, my voice tight with concern. Varikka shakes her head, wincing as she tries to shift her foot. "Nothing," she grunts through gritted teeth. "It's completely unstable."
I nod slowly, my mind racing as I try to plot a path through the debris. The Time-Splitting Sword pulses in my peripheral vision, its energy calling to me like a siren song. But I force myself to focus, to remember the friends we've lost, the lives already sacrificed on this quest. "Alright," I say, my voice strained as I help Varikka lean against the wall for support. "We'll figure this out together. But we need to be careful - one wrong move and we could fall into the pit."
Varikka meets my gaze, her eyes filled with a mix of determination and fear. "I know," she says, her voice soft but resolute. "But Merrin, we're trapped in here until the whole damn place comes down on top of us. We can't even try to move through this rubble."
I feel a chill run down my spine at her words, the weight of our situation settling over me like a shroud. The Guardian's roars still echo through the tunnels, growing louder as we draw closer to our final confrontation. But for now, all that matters is staying alive. One step at a time. "We'll find a way," I say, my voice steady even though my insides are twisting with dread. "We always do. Just...just hold on, okay? Don't let go."
Varikka nods, her hand gripping my arm tightly as we huddle together in the crumbling chamber, the Time-Splitting Sword clutched in my other hand like a talisman against the darkness. The Guardian's roars grow louder, echoing off the walls as the tower groans around us. And I know that our final confrontation is fast approaching, whether we're ready for it or not.
