Round 923 Transcript
Episode 1 · Episode Round 1

The sound of Varikka's ankle giving out beneath her weight sends a jolt of fear through Merrin. She swiftly catches Varikka, holding her up as the dust settles around them. The Guardian's distant roars grow louder, but for now, the party remains trapped in this chamber, surrounded by the crushing weight of the tower. The Time-Splitting Sword, still clutched in Merrin's hand, pulses with an otherworldly energy, casting an eerie glow over the rubble-strewn chamber. Varikka's eyes are fixed on Merrin, concern etched on her face. "My ankle is going to give out," she whispers, her voice barely audible above the din of the settling rubble.
I catch Varikka as her ankle gives out, holding her steady as we both struggle for balance amidst the rubble. The Time-Splitting Sword pulses in my hand, its power surging through my veins like liquid fire. "Stay with me, Varikka," I whisper, my eyes scanning the chamber for any sign of an escape route. "We're not out of this yet."
The Guardian's roars grow louder, echoing off the crumbling walls as the tower groans around us. I can feel the weight of the structure bearing down, the crushing pressure of the impending collapse. But even through the fear and adrenaline, I know we can't afford to use the Time-Splitting Sword recklessly. Not with so much at stake. I glance down at the blade, its energy pulsing in time with my racing heart. Part of me wants to reach out, to grasp that weapon and end this nightmare once and for all. But another part, the part that remembers the cost of wielding such power, hesitates. "Varikka, can you put weight on your ankle?" I ask, my voice strained as I help her to her feet. "We need to find a way out of here before this whole place comes down on top of us."
Varikka nods, wincing as she tries to take a step. "I can make it," she says through gritted teeth. "But we need to be careful. One wrong move and we could fall into the pit."
I nod, my mind racing as I try to plot a path through the debris. The Time-Splitting Sword pulses in my peripheral vision, its energy calling to me like a siren song. But I force myself to focus, to remember the friends we've lost, the lives already sacrificed on this quest. "We'll take it slow," I say, helping Varikka to her feet. "One step at a time. And if it gets too dangerous, we turn back. Deal?"
Varikka meets my gaze, her eyes filled with a mix of determination and fear. "Deal," she says, her voice soft but resolute. And with that, we step out into the rubble-strewn chamber, the Time-Splitting Sword clutched tightly in my hand, its power pulsing like a heartbeat against my palm. The Guardian's roars still echo through the tunnels, growing louder as we draw closer to our final confrontation. But for now, all that matters is staying alive. One step at a time.
I can't put weight on my ankle at all. It's completely unstable. If we try to move through this rubble, I'll just collapse again. We're trapped in here until the whole damn place comes down on top of us. [Your turn]
