Round 850 Transcript
Episode 1 · Episode Round 1

The Guardian's roar echoes through the narrow stone tunnel, growing louder with each passing moment. The ground beneath their feet begins to slope downward, leading the party toward the pool area. As they move, the sound of rushing water grows closer, and the air fills with the smell of damp earth. Varikka's injured ankle throbs with each step, making it difficult to maintain balance. She struggles to keep her footing on the slick stone ledge, her eyes fixed on the faint glimmer of light in the distance. The light seems to be coming from a small opening in the tunnel wall, partially hidden by a tangle of ancient runes. Elric's torch flickers in the darkness, casting eerie shadows on the walls. Merrin reaches out to steady Varikka, her hand grasping at the rough stone. The Guardian's heavy footsteps continue to echo off the walls, a reminder that they are not yet safe.
I stagger towards Varikka, my heart pounding in my chest. The Guardian's roar echoes from the other side of the door, its presence now closer than ever. Elric's torch flickers in the darkness, casting eerie shadows on the rough stone walls of the narrow tunnel. "Varikka!" I shout, my voice strained with effort. "Are you alright? Can you walk?" The ground beneath my feet feels unstable, as if it could give way at any moment. I reach out to steady Varikka, my hands grasping at the rough stone walls. The water churns around the edges of the partially submerged door behind us, threatening to sweep us away at any moment. I glance back over my shoulder, my eyes fixed on the door. With Varikka's help, I struggle to push it open further, my muscles burning with the effort. "Varikka!" I call out, my voice strained with effort. "Help me push! We need to get through this door before that Guardian catches up to us!"
As we stumble into the narrow tunnel beyond, the ground gives way beneath Varikka's foot once more, causing her to cry out in pain. Elric swiftly reaches out to catch her, his grip firm but strained by his injured ankle. The tunnel narrows further, forcing the group to move in single file. The air grows colder, and the smell of damp earth fills our nostrils. A faint glimmer of light appears in the distance, casting a warm glow on the rough stone walls. Suddenly, the sound of rushing water grows louder, and the ground beneath our feet begins to slope downward, leading us toward the pool area. "Elric," I mutter under my breath as we stagger through the narrow passage, "keep that torch high and watch our backs. We need to find a way out of this damn channel before that Guardian catches up to us."
