Round 781 Transcript
Episode 1 · Episode Round 1

Merrin's voice echoes through the darkness, her words laced with a mix of determination and desperation. "We need to move, now! We can't stay here!" She grips Varikka's arm tightly, her eyes scanning the rubble-strewn tunnel for any sign of an escape route. Varikka's injured ankle throbs in pain, but she grits her teeth and nods, her face set with resolve. As they inch forward, the sound of the structural collapse grows louder, and the ground beneath them gives way with a loud crack. The tunnel entrance is now completely blocked, and the air is thick with dust and debris. Merrin's grip on Varikka's arm tightens, her voice low and urgent. "We have to find another way out. We can't stay here."
By the gods, Varikka, we're trapped! I cough, spitting dust from my mouth as I struggle to my feet amidst the rubble.
"Fuck," I mutter, my heart pounding in my chest as I struggle to my feet amidst the rubble.* "We're trapped!"
But even as the words leave my mouth, I know we can't afford to panic. Not yet, not ever. We're fighters, and we've faced worse than this before.
I turn to Varikka, concern etched on my face as I take in her grimace of pain. "How bad is it?" I ask, my voice soft but urgent. "Think you can walk?"
Varikka shakes her head, her teeth gritted as she shifts her weight onto her uninjured leg. "Not without help," she admits, her voice tight with frustration. "My ankle's fucked."
I nod, already reaching for her arm. "Then we'll have to make do with what we've got," I say, my tone determined as I begin to lead her through the rubble-strewn tunnel. "Stay close behind me. I'll clear a path."
But even as we push forward, the weight of our predicament bears down on me like a physical force. The air is thick with dust and the stench of decay, and the sound of more rubble pouring in grows louder by the second.
"Varikka?" I call out, my voice strained but steady.* "If anything happens to me, you keep going. Don't stop for anything, understand?"
Varikka's eyes meet mine, her expression grim but determined. "Understood," she says, her voice soft but filled with resolve. "But don't get any ideas about leaving me behind. We're in this together, Merrin. To the end."
And as we push forward through the darkness, I allow myself a small measure of hope. Perhaps, just perhaps, there's still a chance we might make it out of this accursed tower alive after all.
