Round 595 Transcript
Episode 1 · Episode Round 1

As we proceed, the ground beneath us gives way, and I feel myself sliding toward the falling debris. I manage to grab onto a nearby torch, but it snaps in two, sending sparks flying everywhere. The Guardian's voice rings out once more, its tone dripping with malevolence. "You will not escape this place alive."
The chamber is now plunged into darkness, and I can hear the sound of rocks and dust falling all around us. The air is thick with the smell of smoke and ash. Varikka's grip on my arm tightens, her face etched with fear. Immediate pressure: We need to find a way out of this darkness before it's too late, but the Guardian's control of the situation makes every move a gamble against the crushing weight of the tower's collapse. I fumble in my inventory for a torch and manage to light one, casting flickering shadows on the walls. The beam of light reveals a narrow passageway leading deeper into the chamber. Do we proceed down the passageway, or try to find another way out?
The darkness presses in around us, and I feel a wave of panic rise in my chest as I fumble for another torch. My hands shake as I strike the flint against the stone, the sparks flying and catching on the dry wood.
"There," I mutter under my breath as the flame finally catches, casting flickering light across the chamber. "Come on, Varikka, we need to keep moving."
I grab her arm once again, helping her to steady herself as we make our way towards the narrow passageway. The ground beneath us is slick with moisture, and I can hear the sound of water dripping from somewhere in the distance.
As we move deeper into the chamber, I can feel the weight of the stone pressing down upon us from all sides. The air is thick with the smell of mold and decay, and I can see the faint outline of bioluminescent mushrooms clinging to the walls.
But even as fear threatens to overwhelm me, I push it aside. We have no choice but to keep moving forward if we want to survive this place. So I take a deep breath, grip my mace tighter, and step into the darkness ahead.
I feel my heart pounding in my chest as we move deeper into the chamber, the darkness pressing in around us from all sides. The Guardian's words echo in my mind, cold and detached, and I can feel the weight of its malevolence bearing down upon us.
But even as fear threatens to overwhelm me, I push it aside. This is a fight for survival, and I'll do whatever it takes to keep Merrin and myself alive. So I grip my mace tighter, the metal feeling cold and heavy in my hands, and take another step forward into the unknown.
As we move through the narrow passageway, I can feel the ground shifting beneath my feet, the ancient stones groaning and creaking as they struggle to hold back the crushing force of the earth. The sound of falling debris grows louder with each passing moment, and I can see the faint outline of bioluminescent mushrooms clinging to the walls, their pulsing light casting eerie shadows across the chamber.
But even as we push deeper into this place of ancient stone and bioluminescent fungi, I know that something is watching us from the shadows. The Guardian's control of the situation makes every move a gamble against the crushing weight of the tower's collapse, but I don't let it stop me - I've faced worse in my time as a warrior, and I intend to see this through to the end, no matter what it takes.
So I grit my teeth and take another step forward, my mace at the ready as we venture deeper into this place of ancient stone and bioluminescent mushrooms. The darkness presses in around us from all sides, but I know that we have no choice but to keep moving forward if we want to survive this place.
