Round 586 Transcript
Episode 1 · Episode Round 1

The ground beneath them gives another sickening lurch, and the sound of rocks and debris grows louder, threatening to trap them in the collapsing chamber. Varikka stumbles, her injured ankle screaming in pain, but Merrin catches her by the arm, steadying her. The shadowy figure ahead of them seems to be moving closer, its form shifting and changing as it moves through the darkness. Suddenly, a loud crack echoes through the passageway, and the air is filled with the sound of falling rocks.
Merrin the Halfling Rogue:
The ground beneath us gives another sickening lurch, and I can feel Varikka stumble beside me, her injured ankle screaming in pain. But there's no time to stop - the shadowy figure ahead of us is moving closer, its form shifting and changing as it moves through the darkness. "Varikka, we need to keep moving," I hiss, my hand gripping her arm tightly as I try to steady her. "That thing...it's getting closer."
Varikka nods, her jaw set with determination even as she winces in pain. "I know," she mutters, her voice strained. "But we can't outrun it in this state. We need to find a way to fight back."
I know she's right, but the thought of facing whatever that shadowy creature is fills me with a sense of dread. I've heard stories of the horrors that lurk in these ancient towers, and I know that we're ill-equipped to deal with them. But as the ground gives another lurch beneath us, I know we have no choice. We have to keep moving forward, even if it means facing whatever horrors this place has in store for us. So I tighten my grip on Varikka's arm, and we stumble forward into the darkness, our hearts pounding in our chests as we try to outrun the shadowy figure behind us. The air is thick with a sense of impending doom, and I can feel my breath coming in short, sharp gasps as we race through the passageways. But even as we run, I know that we're not going to be able to escape this place without facing whatever lies ahead. And as the sound of falling rocks grows louder behind us, I know that we have to make a decision - do we confront whatever is chasing us, or do we try to find another way out of this cursed tower? Whatever we decide, one thing is certain: we're in for a fight, and we need to be ready for anything that comes our way.
I tighten my grip on my mace, my jaw set with grim determination as I stagger forward through the darkness of the collapsing tower. The shadowy figure ahead of us seems to be gaining ground, its form shifting and changing as it moves closer.
"Merrin, we can't keep running," I mutter, my voice strained as I struggle to keep my balance on my injured ankle. "That thing...it's too fast. We have to face it."
I can see the fear in Merrin's eyes, but I know she understands what I'm saying. We're trapped in this collapsing chamber with no way out, and we can't afford to waste time trying to escape. We have to stand our ground and fight, even if it means facing whatever horrors this place has in store for us.
"I know you're scared," I say, my voice low and urgent as I turn to face the shadowy figure ahead of us. "But we have no choice. It's either this, or we get crushed by falling rocks. So let's give it everything we've got."
And with that, I raise my mace high in the air, my muscles tense and ready for the fight ahead. The shadowy figure looms closer, its form shifting and changing as it moves through the darkness. But I don't flinch. I've faced worse than this in my years as a warrior, and I know that if we work together, Merrin and I can overcome anything this cursed tower throws at us.
So I take a deep breath, my eyes fixed on the shadowy figure ahead of us. And as it lunges forward, its claws reaching out to attack, I let out a battle cry and charge forward to meet it head-on, my mace swinging through the air with all the force I can muster. It's time to find out what this creature is made of, and whether or not we have what it takes to survive in this place.
