The stone chute opened up into a vast cavern, the air suddenly clear of the clinging fog. Merrin could see the ground rushing up to meet them, a wide river flowing through the center of the chamber. "Varrika!" she screamed again, her voice filled with terror as she realized their predicament. "We're going to hit water!"
