Round 561 Transcript
Episode 1 · Episode Round 1

The fog swirls around us, tendrils of vapor curling like grasping fingers. The low hum grows louder, filling the room with an eerie energy that sets my teeth on edge. I can feel the Guardian's eyes upon us, watching us with an unnerving intensity. Suddenly, the ground gives way beneath us, and we tumble into a narrow, winding chute, our screams echoing off the cold stone walls. We find ourselves sliding down a steep incline, our feet scrabbling for purchase on the slick surface. The air rushes past us in a deafening roar, and I can feel my stomach dropping as we plummet downwards. The chute ends with a sudden splash, sending us tumbling into a dark, murky pool of water.
I let out a yelp of surprise as the ground gives way beneath us, tumbling into the narrow chute along with Varikka. The air rushes past my ears in a deafening roar as we slide down the steep incline, my hands scrabbling for purchase on the slick stone walls. "Varikka!" I shout over the din, trying to spot her in the swirling fog. "Are you alright?"
My heart pounds in my chest as we plummet ever downward, the chute twisting and turning in dizzying spirals. I catch glimpses of Varikka's form ahead of me, her arms flailing as she struggles to stay upright. The chute ends with a sudden splash, sending us tumbling into the dark, murky water below. "Varikka!" I cry out again, my voice echoing off the cold stone walls.
I emerge from the pool gasping and sputtering, my clothes soaked through with the icy water. I stagger to my feet, my legs trembling with exhaustion and fear. "Varikka?" I call out, my voice shaking as I scan the shadows for any sign of her. "Where are you?"
The fog swirls around us, thick and cloying, obscuring everything beyond a few feet. I can hear the low hum still filling the air, an ominous sound that sets my teeth on edge. "Varikka!" I shout again, my voice growing frantic as panic rises in my chest. "Please, answer me!"
I take a tentative step forward, my foot splashing in the shallow water. The ground is slick and treacherous, and I can feel it giving way beneath me with each movement. But I know that I cannot afford to hesitate now - not when Varikka's life may be at stake.
So I push forward, my hands outstretched before me as I feel my way through the darkness, calling out Varikka's name with all the strength I can muster. "Varikka!" I shout, my voice hoarse and raw with fear. "Where are you? Please, answer me!"
I let out a pained groan as I tumble into the murky water, my injured ankle screaming in agony as it twists beneath me. The icy liquid fills my nose and mouth, choking off my breath as I struggle to right myself. "Merrin!" I gasp, my voice hoarse and ragged as I stagger to my feet. "Where are you?"
The fog swirls around us, thick and cloying, obscuring everything beyond a few feet. I can hear Merrin's voice echoing off the cold stone walls, frantic and frightened. "Merrin!" I call out, my own voice shaking with fear and pain as I lurch towards the sound. "I'm here! Keep talking, I'll find you!"
My heart pounds in my chest as I feel my way through the darkness, my hands outstretched before me. The ground is slick and treacherous underfoot, and I can feel it giving way with each step, threatening to send me tumbling back into the icy depths. "Merrin!" I shout again, my voice growing hoarse and raw with exertion. "Keep talking! I'm close!"
I take another tentative step forward, my foot splashing in the shallow water. Suddenly, my hand brushes against something solid - the rough stone of a wall, cold and damp to the touch. "Merrin!" I call out once more, my voice echoing off the walls as I feel my way along the wall's edge. "I've found the wall! Stay where you are, I'm coming!"
My ankle throbs with each step, sending jolts of agony up my leg. But I push through the pain, determined to reach Merrin's side no matter what it takes. The fog swirls around us like a living thing, tendrils of vapor curling and grasping at our clothes and skin. "Merrin!" I call out again, my voice growing more frantic as I feel my way along the wall. "Where are you? Answer me!"
I know that we are in grave danger here, that the trials we face will test us in ways we can't even imagine. But I also know that we are stronger together, that our bond and our courage will see us through whatever horrors this place may hold. "Merrin!" I shout one last time, my voice hoarse and ragged but filled with determination. "Keep fighting! We'll get through this, together!"
