Varikka's mace scrapes against the rocky wall as she follows Merrin, her sprained ankle throbbing with each step. The ground beneath them continues to shift, the sound of rushing water growing louder by the second. Elric's torch casts eerie shadows on the walls, making it seem like the very stones are moving of their own accord. As they round a corner, the tunnel splits into two narrow passages, one leading left and the other right. The air coming from the left passage is stale and musty, while the right passage smells of damp earth and mold. Varikka hesitates, her eyes darting between Merrin and Elric. Which path should they take?

Merrin

Merrin · Rogue

Merrin's eyes dart between the two passages, her heart pounding in her chest. The halfling rogue can feel the weight of the tower pressing down on them from all sides, and she knows that they must choose their path carefully. She glances at Varikka, seeing the uncertainty in the dwarf's eyes, and Merrin feels a surge of protectiveness wash over her. "Varikka," she says softly, "I think we should take the passage on the right."

Varrika

Varrika · Fighter

Varikka's eyes narrow as she considers Merrin's suggestion, her grip tightening on her mace. The dwarf can feel the weight of the tower pressing down on them from all sides, and she knows that they must choose their path carefully.

She glances at the passage on the right, sniffing the air cautiously. The scent of damp earth and mold is strong, but not unpleasant. Varikka's instincts tell her that this path may lead them to safety, but she also knows that Elric cannot be trusted.

With a deep breath, the dwarf nods slowly. "Aye, I think you're right," she says softly, her voice barely audible over the rush of the water. "But stay sharp, Merrin. We can't trust anything in this accursed place."

Varikka steps forward into the passage on the right, her mace raised high and ready for whatever may come. She knows that whatever awaits them at the end of this journey, it cannot be good. But she also knows that they have no choice but to face it head-on, or risk being dragged down into the depths by the churning waters forever.

As they move deeper into the shadows ahead, Varikka can't shake the feeling that something is wrong. The air feels thick and heavy, like a weight pressing down on her chest, and the walls seem to close in around them with each passing step. But still, she presses on, driven by the distant glow of Elric's torch and the faint hope that it might lead them to safety.

And as they round another corner, Varikka sees it - a faint flicker of light in the distance, glimmering through the darkness like a beacon in the night. She knows that whatever awaits them at the end of this journey, it can't be good. But she also knows that they have no choice but to face it head-on, or risk being dragged down into the depths by the churning waters forever.
