As Varikka and Merrin begin their treacherous journey through the passage, the ground beneath them gives a sudden, ominous creak. The sound echoes through the cavern, making it seem as though the very walls are protesting their presence. The air grows thick with an eerie, unnatural silence, and the pair exchange a wary glance. Suddenly, Elric's frail voice cuts through the stillness, his words laced with an undercurrent of urgency. "Faster, now," he whispers, his eyes darting towards a nearby pool of churning, greenish-black water. "We must press on before the Guardian finds us."

Merrin's grip on her mace tightens as she peers into the pool, her eyes widening in alarm at the sight of something moving beneath the surface.

Merrin

Merrin · Rogue

Merrin's heart leaps into her throat at Elric's warning. She presses her back against the tunnel wall, mace at the ready, as she strains to see through the gloom. The churning pool seems to writhe with unseen motion, and Merrin feels a chill run down her spine as she catches a glimpse of something large and sinuous moving beneath the surface. "Keep your eyes peeled," she hisses to Varikka, her voice barely audible over the groaning of the tunnel walls. "Whatever that is, it's not natural."

Varikka nods grimly, her mace at the ready as she scans the shadows for any sign of movement. The ground beneath their feet continues to shudder and shift, sending chunks of rock and debris cascading down around them. Elric presses closer, his sunken eyes darting nervously from side to side. "We must hurry," he whispers urgently. "The Guardian is close behind us, and it will not stop until it has claimed its due."

Merrin's heart pounds in her chest as she listens to Elric's words. She knows they can't afford to hesitate, not with the tunnel collapsing around them and some unknown horror lurking in the shadows. "Alright," she says softly, her voice barely audible over the groaning of the tunnel walls. "Let's move out. But stay sharp - we don't know what we might face down here."

And with a final nod of grim determination, Merrin steps forward into the darkness, her mace at the ready and her senses on high alert. Whatever lies ahead, she knows they can't afford to let their guard down for even a moment.

Varrika

Varrika · Fighter

Varikka's eyes narrow as she scans the shadows, her mace at the ready. She can feel the tension radiating from Merrin beside her, and she knows the halfling is right - something about this place isn't natural. The tunnel walls seem to close in around them, the air thick with a sense of impending doom. Varikka's breath comes in short, sharp gasps as she tries to steady her nerves, her heart pounding in her chest. "Stay sharp," she murmurs to Merrin, her voice barely audible over the groaning of the tunnel walls. "And watch each other's backs. We don't know what we might face down here."
