As the ledge beneath them gives way, Merrin swiftly pulls Varika to safety, but her injured ankle buckles under the strain, sending her tumbling backward. She crashes into the rising waters below, momentarily submerged. The Guardian lunges forward, its metal claws mere inches from crushing Varika.

Merrin

Merrin · Rogue

I feel the ledge crumble beneath my feet, and I lunge forward in a desperate attempt to keep Varikka from falling into the rising waters below. My fingers close around her wrist just before she plunges into the depths, and I pull with all my strength, heaving her back onto the precarious stone.

But as Varikka's weight settles against me, I can see the pain etched on her face, the way her ankle buckles under the strain. The Guardian looms over us, its metal claws gleaming in the dim light as it lunges forward once more.

I know we can't outrun it - the tower is collapsing around us, and the waters are rising ever higher. Our only chance is to fight our way out, to keep moving forward no matter what horrors lie ahead.

With a grunt of effort, I pull Varikka to her feet, steadying her against my shoulder. The pain in her ankle is obvious, but she grits her teeth and raises her weapon, ready to join the battle once more.

Let's go, I say, my voice steady despite the chaos around us. We fight our way out or we fall trying. But either way, we're not dying here.

Varrika

Varrika · Fighter

I let out a pained grunt as Merrin pulls me back onto solid ground, my ankle throbbing with agony. But I can't afford to focus on the pain right now - the Guardian is still there, its metal claws gleaming in the dim light as it lunges forward once more. On your feet, I snarl, hauling myself upright and raising my crowbar in a two-handed grip. We fight our way out or we fall trying. But either way, we're not dying here.

The chamber groans around us, the sound of crumbling stone filling the air. Water rushes in from below, the surface now mere feet away from our boots. I know we're running out of time - the tower won't hold much longer, and if we don't find a way out soon, we'll be trapped here until the whole place comes crashing down around us. But even with the pain in my ankle and the fear coursing through my veins, I can feel a flicker of something else burning in my chest. A spark of determination, of defiance in the face of this unnatural evil that has plagued us since the moment we set foot in this accursed place. Come on then, you bastard, I growl, my voice steady despite the chaos around us. Let's see what you've got.

And with that, I turn back to face the Guardian, my weapon raised high and a grim smile on my face. Let's go, I say, my voice steady despite the chaos around us. We fight our way out or we fall trying. But either way, we're not dying here. The creature lunges forward once more, its metal claws gleaming in the dim light. But this time, I'm prepared for it. This time, we fight together - or we fall trying.
