Round 457 Transcript
Episode 1 · Episode Round 1

The ground beneath Merrin's feet gives way once more, and she tumbles down the steep incline, her crossbow clattering to the ground beside her. She scrambles to her feet, clutching her ankle in pain as she looks around frantically for any sign of Varikka or the Guardian. The passageway ahead is now completely blocked by a massive boulder, its surface etched with ancient runes that seem to pulse with a malevolent energy. Varikka's voice echoes through the chamber, faint but desperate, "Merrin! I'm stuck! The Guardian... it's right behind me!"
"Varikka? VARRIKA!" I cry out, my voice echoing off the damp stone walls. The air is thick with the stench of decay and the distant roars of the Guardian. I stagger to my feet, clutching my sprained ankle as I scan the chamber frantically for any sign of her. The passageway ahead is completely blocked by a massive boulder, its surface etched with ancient runes that seem to pulse with a malevolent energy. I take a step towards it, my crossbow at the ready, but the ground crumbles beneath my feet and I nearly lose my balance. "Varikka, can you hear me?" I call out again, my voice trembling with fear. "I'm coming for you! Just hold on!"
I take a deep breath, steeling myself for whatever lies ahead. The Guardian is out there, hunting us, and Varikka is trapped. I have to find a way to save her, even if it means facing the darkness alone. "Varikka?" I call out one last time, my voice echoing through the chamber. "Varikka, where are you? We need to keep moving!"
I take a step forward, my crossbow at the ready, and pray to whatever gods might be listening that we make it out of this nightmare alive.
"Merrin! I hear you!" I shout, my voice echoing off the damp stone walls. "I'm stuck in a dead-end chamber. The Guardian is right behind me, blocking the only way out!"
I take a deep breath, trying to calm my racing heart. "Don't try to fight it. We need to find another way."
As if on cue, the ground beneath my feet trembles again, and I stumble, nearly losing my balance. The Guardian lets out a deafening roar, its massive form filling the narrow passageway. I raise my mace, ready to strike, but I know it's futile. We're trapped, and our only hope is to find another way out.
"Merrin, we need to keep moving! There has to be another exit somewhere. Keep looking!" I shout, my voice hoarse with fear. "And whatever you do, don't let the Guardian catch you!"
