Episode 1 · Episode Round 1

As Merrin pushes herself up onto her feet, she loses her footing on the wet stone once more. This time, she falls hard against the wall, her head striking it with a sickening crack. The Guardian takes another step closer, its massive fists swinging menacingly through the water. Varikka's ankle throbs in agony as she tries to put weight on it, but Merrin grabs her arm, steadying her. "Hold on!" Merrin cries out, her voice strained with worry. The water level is now at their waist, and the creatures moving beneath the surface are getting closer. With a Herculean effort, Merrin pulls herself up against the wall, using all her strength to keep her balance. As she struggles to stay upright, Merrin notices that the wall behind them has given way, sending a shower of sparks flying up into the air. The Guardian's voice booms through the air once more, its words echoing off the crumbling stone walls: "You fools... it's too late!"
Merrin's breath catches in her throat as she struggles to regain her footing, the world spinning around her. She can feel the Guardian's presence looming closer, its hot breath washing over her back as it prepares to strike. But even as fear threatens to overwhelm her, Merrin forces herself to focus.
She turns to Varikka, her eyes locking with her friend's. "We need to keep moving," she says, her voice strained but determined. "I don't know where we're going yet, but I know that we can't stay here."
Merrin takes a deep breath, steadying herself against the wall. She knows that her ankle is badly sprained, and that she may not be able to move as quickly as Varikka. But she also knows that they cannot afford to wait. With a herculean effort, Merrin pushes herself up onto her feet, using all her strength to keep her balance on the slippery ledge.
She glances down at the swirling waters below, seeing the dark shapes of creatures moving beneath the surface. A wave of fear washes over her as she realizes just how dire their situation has become. But even as panic threatens to overwhelm her, Merrin forces herself to focus.
She turns to Varikka, her eyes locked on her friend's face. "We need to keep pushing," she says, her voice steady despite the fear coursing through her veins. "I don't know where we're going yet, but I know that we can't stay here."
Merrin's mind races as she runs, trying to think of a way out of this predicament. She knows that they cannot outrun the Guardian, and that their only hope is to find a new route to safety. With a deep breath, she turns to Varikka, her eyes locked on her friend's face.
Merrin's gaze snaps wide as she sees the crumbling stone wall behind them, a shower of sparks flying up into the air. She knows that they don't have much time left. But even as the Guardian's voice booms through the air, its words echoing off the walls, Merrin refuses to give up.
She grabs Varikka's arm, steadying her on the ledge. "Hold on!" she cries out, her voice strained with worry. "We can make it if we work together."
Merrin knows that the water is rising fast, and that the creatures beneath the surface are getting closer with each passing moment. But she also knows that they cannot afford to lose hope. With a deep breath, she turns to Varikka once more, her eyes locked on her friend's face.
"Let's keep moving," Merrin says, her voice filled with determination. "We'll find a way out of this together, I promise."
Varikka's heart pounds as she clings to the ledge, the water rising rapidly around them. Merrin's words echo in her mind - they need to keep moving, to find a way out. But with her ankle throbbing in agony and the Guardian looming ever closer, Varikka feels a surge of despair wash over her.
She turns to Merrin, her eyes locking with her friend's. "We can't... we can't keep going like this," Varikka says, her voice strained. "I can barely stand on my ankle, and the Guardian is gaining on us."
