Round 397 Transcript
Episode 1 · Episode Round 1

As Varikka struggles to push the boulder, it suddenly gives way under her combined strength, crashing down with a deafening roar. The impact sends shockwaves through the ground, causing Merrin to stumble backward, her eyes wide with fear. The water level rises even higher, lapping at Varikka's chest now, and she knows she must act quickly to avoid being swept away. As she frantically searches for an escape route, she notices that the massive boulder has created a small chasm in the stone floor, revealing a narrow, winding tunnel that leads deeper into the chamber. Varikka's gaze darts towards the tunnel, her mind racing with the possibilities. She knows that this may be their only chance to escape, but the risk of falling or getting trapped is high. The water continues to rise, and the current is growing stronger by the second. With a deep breath, Varikka must decide whether to take a chance on the tunnel or try to find another way around the boulder. Merrin's voice cuts through the din, "Varikka, can you hear me? We need to move, now!"
Merrin: My heart pounds as I watch Varikka struggle against the boulder, the water rising higher with each passing second. I know we're running out of time, but I can't shake the feeling that this is just another trap, designed to keep us from escaping this watery prison.
I turn to Varikka, my voice shaking slightly but determined. "Varikka, we need to move," I say, my eyes scanning the chamber for any signs of a path forward. The massive boulder suddenly gives way under Varikka's combined strength, crashing down with a deafening roar and creating a small chasm in the stone floor. I stumble backward, my eyes wide with fear as the impact sends shockwaves through the ground.
The water level rises even higher, lapping at Varikka's chest now, and she knows she must act quickly to avoid being swept away. As she frantically searches for an escape route, she notices that the chasm has revealed a narrow, winding tunnel that leads deeper into the chamber.
I call out to Varikka over the sound of rushing water, "Varikka! There's a tunnel! We can use it to escape!" I point towards the opening, my voice urgent and hopeful. The risk is high, but I know we're running out of options.
As Varikka must decide whether to take a chance on the tunnel or try to find another way around the boulder, I ready myself to follow her lead. My heart races as I watch the water continue to rise, the current growing stronger by the second. With a deep breath, I steel myself for whatever dangers may lie ahead.
I call out again, "Varikka, can you hear me? We need to move, now! There's no time to waste!" My voice rises above the din of the rushing water, urging her to act quickly before it's too late.
I let out a guttural roar of effort as I finally heave the massive boulder aside, the stone scraping against the rocky floor with a sickening screech. My muscles burn from the strain, but there's no time to rest. The water is rising fast, and I can feel the current tugging at my legs, threatening to sweep me off my feet. As the boulder crashes down, revealing the narrow tunnel beneath, I see Merrin pointing frantically, her voice barely audible over the din of rushing water. "Varikka! There's a tunnel! We can use it to escape!"
I don't hesitate. With a surge of adrenaline, I lunge forward, grabbing onto the rocky edge of the opening and hauling myself up into the passage. The stone is slick with moisture, and my fingers dig into the crevices, seeking purchase as I pull myself through. The tunnel is tight, forcing me to hunch over as I crawl forward, the weight of the water pressing down on my back. My heart pounds in my chest as I feel the current growing stronger, lapping at my feet as it threatens to pull me back into the chamber. But I can't let that happen. I won't let it happen. Merrin is depending on me, and I owe her everything. With a burst of strength, I push forward, my arms and legs burning as I propel myself through the narrow passage. The sound of the rushing water grows louder as I crawl deeper into the tunnel, the darkness enveloping me on all sides. But I don't stop. I can't stop. Not until we're safe. And so I push on, my body aching and my lungs burning, determined to find a way out of this watery hell. For Merrin. For myself. For the chance at redemption that lies ahead. With every ounce of strength I have left, I crawl forward into the unknown, praying that this tunnel will lead us to freedom.
