Round 367 Transcript
Episode 1 · Episode Round 1

Merrin and Varika find temporary respite on a narrow ledge, their backs against the wall as they catch their breath. The air is thick with dust, and the flickering torches cast eerie shadows on the stone walls. The massive boulder crashes into the water below, sending a plume of spray high into the air. Varika's injured hand throbs in pain as she leans against Merrin, her eyes scanning the tunnel ahead. "We need to keep moving," she says, her voice strained. "The water pressure is building, and I don't know how much longer this ledge will hold."
Merrin nods, her gaze fixed on the tunnel entrance. "I see a side passage to our left," she says. "It looks narrow, but it might provide an escape route."
As they consider their options, the ground beneath them begins to shudder, and the sound of rushing water grows louder by the second. The air is filled with the acrid smell of damp earth and ozone.
I glance at Varikka, my heart still pounding from our narrow escape. The sound of rushing water echoes through the tunnel, and I can feel the ground shaking beneath my feet.
"You're right," I say, nodding towards the side passage. "We need to keep moving. That ledge won't hold forever."
I take a deep breath, steeling myself for what's to come. The air is thick with dust, and the flickering torches cast eerie shadows on the stone walls. But I know we can't stay here.
With a grunt of effort, I heave myself up onto my feet, my mace clutched tightly in my hand. I take a step towards the side passage, my eyes scanning the tunnel ahead for any sign of danger or potential refuge.
"Stay close," I say to Varikka over my shoulder. "And be ready for anything. This place is about to come down around our ears."
As we make our way towards the side passage, I can feel the ground shaking more violently beneath my feet. The sound of rushing water grows louder by the second, and I know we're running out of time.
But still, I press on, determined to find a way out of this damnable tunnel before it's too late. Whatever dangers lie ahead, we'll face them together - because right now, Varikka is the only person in this damn tower who I trust to have my back.
I nod grimly at Merrin's plan. "Aye, let's move," I say, my voice rough with pain and exhaustion. "But keep your eyes open. This place is treacherous as a drunk orc in a brothel."
I haul myself up with a grunt, my injured hand throbbing like the abyss itself. The tunnel ahead looks even worse than the last, but we've no choice. It's either that or drown in this cursed water. As Merrin leads the way, I follow close behind, my mace at the ready. The sound of rushing water echoes through the passage, and the air is thick with the stench of damp earth and decay. Suddenly, a loud crack echoes through the tunnel, and a shower of rocks rains down from the ceiling. Merrin ducks just in time, but I'm not so lucky. A jagged piece of stone catches me square in the shoulder, sending a bolt of pain through my already aching body. I stifle a cry, gritting my teeth as I stagger to my feet. "Keep moving!" I shout to Merrin, my voice strained. "This place is coming down around our ears!"
Together, we press on into the darkness, our hearts pounding and our eyes straining against the gloom. Whatever lies ahead, we'll face it together - because right now, Merrin is all that stands between me and a watery grave. And gods help any creature foolish enough to get in our way.
