As Merrin and Varikka continue along the narrow ledge, the staircase creaks ominously beneath them, its wooden supports splintering and breaking with each step. The water below rises another foot, threatening to engulf them at any moment. Suddenly, a loud crack echoes through the chamber, followed by the sound of shifting stone and creaking wooden beams. The structural collapse is getting closer, and Merrin knows they must find a way to stabilize the staircase before it's too late. Merrin glances down at Varikka, her eyes fixed on the glowing-eyed creature hovering just below them. "We need to move fast!" she whispers urgently. "If we don't find something to brace the staircase, we'll be crushed by the falling debris!"

I glance down at Varikka, my eyes fixed on the glowing-eyed creature hovering just below us. "We need to move fast!" I whisper urgently. "If we don't find something to brace the staircase, we'll be crushed by the falling debris!"

I can see the terror in her eyes, the way her body trembles with each step we take along the narrow ledge. But I know we can't stop, not now. So I reach out a hand, grasping hers tightly as we edge our way along the stone path. It's slow going, each step a struggle against the surging water and the weight of our sodden clothes. But we keep moving, my heart pounding in my chest as I feel the Tentacled Horror's bioluminescent markings flashing closer and closer. The sound of shifting stone and creaking wooden beams grows louder with each passing moment, filling the air around us like a death knell. I know that if we don't find a way out of this soon, we'll be crushed by the falling debris or pulled down into the depths by whatever lurks beneath the surface. But I can't let that happen. Not when Varikka is depending on me to keep her safe. So I keep moving, my hand gripping hers tightly as we edge our way along the narrow ledge. And I pray that somehow, someway, we'll find a way out of this nightmare alive.
