Round 152 Transcript
Episode 1 · Episode Round 1

Merrin's eyes lock onto the opening in the wall as she pulls Varikka closer. The sound of the Devourer of Light grows louder, its presence radiating an otherworldly energy. Varikka's grip on Merrin's hand tightens, her knuckles white with fear. The water beneath them churns violently as a massive wave crashes against the ledge, threatening to sweep them away. Merrin's fingers dig into Varikka's hand, holding fast as she looks up at the crumbling walls above. The section of wall that gave way earlier is now cracked and unstable, its surface slick with water. A faint glow emanates from the opening in the wall, casting an eerie light on the surrounding debris. Merrin's gaze is drawn to it, her heart racing with a mix of hope and trepidation.
I cling to Varikka's hand tightly, my heart pounding in my chest as I stare at the opening in the wall. It's our only way out of this nightmare, but the thought of leaving Seraphine behind fills me with dread. "Varikka, we can't just leave Seraphine," I say, my voice shaking slightly. "She's still down there, fighting for her life."
I look back at the water, searching for any sign of our fallen comrade. But all I see is the churning depths, filled with unseen horrors. "We have to find a way to help her," I say, my determination hardening. "Even if it means going back into that hellhole."
I take a deep breath, steeling myself for what lies ahead. The Devourer of Light seems to be getting closer, its presence radiating an otherworldly energy that makes my skin crawl. "We can't stay here," I say, my voice filled with urgency. "But we can't abandon Seraphine either. There has to be a way to do both."
I look at Varikka, my eyes searching hers for answers. In the depths of her gaze, I see the same fear and determination that burns within me. "What do you say, Varikka?" I ask, my voice barely above a whisper. "Are you with me? Will you help me save Seraphine and escape this place alive?"
Seraphine: I gasp for air as I pull myself out of the water, my body trembling from the cold and exhaustion. My eyes dart around the room, taking in the chaos of the collapsing tower, the rising water, and the terrifying creatures that now fill the space. My heart clenches with fear when I see Merrin and Varikka on the ledge, their faces etched with panic and determination.
I know we can't stay here much longer, but the thought of leaving Seraphine behind is unbearable. She's one of us, our friend, our comrade. We came here for a reason, and abandoning her now would be a betrayal of everything we stand for.
I wade through the churning water towards them, my steps heavy and slow. The sound of the Devourer of Light grows louder with each passing second, its presence an oppressive weight in the air. I reach out to Merrin, grasping her arm tightly.
"Merrin, we have to help Seraphine!" I shout over the roar of the collapsing tower. "She's still down there, fighting for her life!"
My eyes lock onto Varikka's, searching for support and understanding. In her gaze, I see the same fear and resolve that burns within me.
"We can't just leave her," I say, my voice firm and unwavering. "It's not who we are. We fight together, or not at all."
