Merrin's fingers close around the rope, and she yanks with all her might, her muscles straining against the water's resistance. The creature's tentacles lash out again, striking Seraphine once more, sending her tumbling into the depths. The platform creaks ominously as the rope tangles around Merrin's arm, momentarily immobilizing her. A nearby section of the wall gives way, sending a massive boulder crashing into the water with a deafening roar.

I let out a shout of alarm as Seraphine is pulled under by the creature, her staff slipping from my grasp. The water churns around me, threatening to drag me down as well. I struggle against its pull, my limbs leaden and exhausted. "Seraphine!" I scream, my voice lost in the roar of the flood. "No, no, no!"

But even as I fight to reach her, I know it's futile. The creature is too strong, the water too deep. And now, with Seraphine gone and the platform crumbling around me, I'm left alone to face whatever horrors still lurk in these depths.
