As Merrin wades back into the churning water, she feels the current tugging at her legs, threatening to drag her under at any moment. She manages to grab hold of a nearby rock, using it as a makeshift anchor to steady herself before continuing on towards Varika. The creature, sensing her presence, surges forward, its dark form barely visible through the churning foam. Merrin raises her crossbow, ready to fire again, but this time she's aware of the limited number of bolts left. She must act quickly and decisively if she hopes to save Varika from the clutches of the tentacled horror. Suddenly, a loud rumbling noise echoes through the cavern, causing the ground to shudder beneath her feet, making it harder for her to maintain her balance.

Merrin

Merrin · Rogue

I feel my heart pounding in my chest as I watch Varrika thrashing beneath the surface, her hair flashing red through the churning water. The creature is circling faster now, its dark form barely visible through the foam. I know I can't afford to hesitate any longer.

Seraphine

Seraphine · Wizard

I watch Merrin wade back into the churning water, my heart clenching with fear for her safety. The creature is circling faster now, its dark form barely visible through the foam. I know that if she goes after Varrika directly, she risks being pulled under too. My mind races as I try to think of a way to help them both without putting Merrin in danger. "Merrin, wait!" I call out, my voice strained with urgency. I can feel the water rising around my own feet, the cold seeping into my bones. I know we don't have much time left before this entire cavern is flooded.
My eyes dart around the room, searching for anything that might be useful. Suddenly, my gaze falls upon a large, flat stone slab near the edge of the water. An idea forms in my mind, desperate and potentially dangerous, but it's all we have left. "Merrin! There!" I point frantically at the stone slab. "If you can get to that platform, you might be able to reach Varrika from there without being pulled under! It looks like it's still above the waterline!"
I start wading towards the slab myself, my robes heavy and waterlogged, weighing me down. The current is stronger here, tugging at my legs with every step. I have to fight against it, pushing myself forward with all my strength. As I get closer to the platform, I can see how slick it is with moss and algae. It will be a treacherous climb, but it's the only way to gain some height and a stable vantage point.
I turn back to Merrin, who is still struggling against the current in the deeper water. "Merrin, hurry! The water's rising too fast!" I call out, my voice echoing off the cavern walls. I know we're all running out of time, but right now, saving Varrika and getting Merrin to safety is my only focus. Everything else - the tower, our quest, even our own lives - feels like background noise compared to the immediate danger of being swept away by this raging flood.
