Round 2

[Narrator | Narrator]
As the last flicker of candlelight dances across the table, the room falls silent once more. Jeane's words have ignited a tempest of questions and concerns, yet the air remains heavy with anticipation. The map of the tower's ground floor lies spread before them, yellowed parchment creased from years of use. Halie's words hang like a challenge, demanding clarity on the plan and its potential rewards. Merrin's gaze lingers on the table, her expression a mask of calculation, waiting for the promised benefits to be spelled out in black and white. Seraphine's eyes remain fixed on the map, her fingers drumming a staccato beat against the wooden armrest, as if willing the answers to materialize. Varrika's face sets in a firm line, her jaw clenched in skepticism.
The silence stretches out, punctuated only by the distant rumble of thunder outside, and the soft creaking of the ancient wooden beams. The room holds its breath, waiting for the cast to make their decision.
[Jeane | Sorcerer]
I've heard enough to know this tower is a tomb waiting to happen, but I'm not here to turn tail at the first whiff of danger—provided the terms are right and the risk is calculated. If we're going up against necromancers and their undead pets, then we need more than just courage; we need strategy, firepower, and an exit plan tighter than a succubus's grip on her prey.
[Halie | Cleric]
I'll go in, but not blind. I need to know the full scope of what we're up against—every monster type, every trap the stories mention—and a contingency plan if things go south faster than we can react. My faith gives comfort, yes, but it doesn't raise the dead or resurrect the foolish. We leave no man behind and take no unnecessary risks.
[Merrin | Rogue]
Look, I'm not afraid of a few skeletons or some wannabe necros. I've dealt with worse in back alleys and brothels across the realms. But this? This is a whole different ball game.
I lean forward, my eyes narrowing as I stare down the table at the others.
If we're gonna do this, we need to be smart about it. Careful. We can't just rush in there like a bunch of half-cocked adventurers. We need to scout it out first. Find the weak spots, the hidden entrances. Maybe even get our hands on some of those dark sorcerers' secrets before we make our move.
I tap a finger against the map, tracing a path through the tower's layout.
And don't think for a second I'm doing this just for the gold or some noble cause. No, I've got my own reasons for wanting that sword. Reasons I ain't about to share with the whole room.
I sit back, crossing my arms over my chest and fixing each of them with a hard stare.
[Seraphine | Wizard]
I uncross my arms and lean forward, my elbows finding purchase on the rough-hewn tabletop. The flickering candlelight catches the glint of my eyes as I meet each person's gaze in turn. "This is no ordinary job, that much is clear," I begin, my voice steady and low. "If what you say about this sword is true—that it has the power to shatter time itself—the risks are... incomprehensible." A shiver, cold as a tomb, traces its way down my spine. As a scholar of forbidden histories, I've studied the consequences of meddling with such forces. The thought of it being wielded by necromancers makes my blood run cold. "But if there's even a chance that freeing this village from their curse could be achieved... then yes, I will participate." I tap a finger on the map, stopping at the central rune-marked location. "However, we must have more than just a haphazard plan of attack. We need a solid strategy—intel on the layout, on the specific nature of the undead we’ll face, and most importantly, on how to safely contain and transport such a powerful artifact. If we're going to do this, let's do it right." My eyes harden with determination.* "I suggest we spend the next few hours planning this out in meticulous detail. No half-measures. We go in
[Varrika | Fighter]
I'll go in, but I won't be anyone's shield to hide behind while they scurry about for secrets and artifacts. We stick together, face the horrors head-on, and get out with our lives and this sword. No half-measures, no cutting corners. If we're doing this, we do it right or not at all.
