Shadow of the Ancients / Run 007 / Setup
Halie
Cleric
Halie, a weary human cleric, kneels before the ancient rune-covered gate, her blue-grey eyes tracing the dangerous symbols etched into stone. She sees not just warnings but powerful binding magic, old and malicious, meant to keep things in as much as out. Her compassion wars with her fear—she knows they must open it, but at what cost? Her moral seriousness makes her slow to act rashly, but when she speaks, her voice carries measured conviction born of desperate necessity.
In Halie's own words
I trace the cold stone symbols with my fingers, feeling the weight of ancient magic pulse against my skin. The binding here is layered and complex—clever work, probably older than most kingdoms. I can feel its hunger, how it twists space itself to hold whatever's inside. We can break these seals, yes, but we need to do it right or we'll just make everything worse. I didn't come all this way to unleash something terrible by accident. I'm tired, yes—I've been walking for days through rotten forests and sleeping on cold ground—but my faith is still strong. Someone needs to keep us grounded, keep us from rushing into obvious traps or arguing over loot before the real fighting starts. That's on me. So I'll study these seals until my eyes cross, and when we break them, it'll be smart and careful, even if it takes longer than anyone wants.
