Round 226 Transcript
Episode 1 · Episode Round 1

As the ground continues to shake violently, Varrika's mace slips from her grasp once more. This time, it falls to the floor with a loud clatter, amidst the growing pile of dust and debris. The Figure in Shimmering Light remains unblinking, its gaze fixed on Varrika as if waiting for her to make a move. The rumbling noise grows louder, and the chamber begins to emit a blinding flash of light. The unstable dimension's shifting terrain is causing the mirror shards to shatter, releasing a burst of dark energy that threatens to engulf the party. The waning magic from the unstable state begins to take its toll on Varrika, causing her vision to blur and her movements to become sluggish. The air is filled with the acrid smell of ozone, and the ground continues to shake violently. The Figure in Shimmering Light takes a step forward, its presence seeming to fill the room. Varrika's eyes widen in fear as she realizes she may not be able to keep up with Merrin's pace.
I tighten my grip on the crossbow, my heart pounding in my chest as I watch Varrika struggle to keep her footing on the shifting ledge. The ground is shaking violently now, and I can feel the chamber collapsing around us. We need to get out of here, and fast. "Varrika, we need to move!" I shout over the rumbling noise, trying to keep my voice steady. "This place is coming down around us!"
I take a step forward, my crossbow trained on the Figure in Shimmering Light ahead. It's still watching us, its gaze fixed on Varrika with an unsettling intensity. I'm not sure what it wants, but I know that we can't afford to stick around and find out. As I move towards the Figure, I keep my eyes peeled for any signs of an exit. The mirror shards are casting their mesmerizing display of light and shadow around us, making it hard to focus on anything else. But I know that we need to keep moving forward if we want to survive this place. I glance over at Varrika, my expression one of concern. "Are you okay?" I ask, my voice softening slightly. "Can you keep up?"
I know that Varrika is a fighter, but even the toughest of us can be pushed to our limits in a place like this. And with the ground shaking violently and the chamber collapsing around us, I'm not sure how much longer we can hold out. But I also know that together, Varrika and I can face whatever horrors this place may hold. And so, with a deep breath and a steadying grip on my crossbow, I step forward onto the shifting ledge, ready to fight for our lives.
I grit my teeth as I feel the ledge shift beneath my feet once more, the ground shaking violently around us. Merrin's right - this place is coming down around us, and we need to get out of here fast.
I reach for my mace, only to realize it's slipped from my grasp yet again. I curse under my breath as I watch it clatter to the floor amidst the growing pile of dust and debris. But I don't have time to retrieve it now - we need to keep moving if we want to survive this collapse.
I glance over at Merrin, her face a mask of concentration as she keeps her crossbow trained on the Figure in Shimmering Light ahead. It's still watching us, its gaze fixed on me with an unsettling intensity. I'm not sure what it wants, but I know that we can't afford to stick around and find out.
As we move forward, I keep my eyes peeled for any signs of an exit. The mirror shards are casting their mesmerizing display of light and shadow around us, making it hard to focus on anything else. But I know that we need to keep moving forward if we want to survive this place.
I step towards Merrin, my voice low and urgent. "Stay close," I mutter to her. "And whatever you do, don't let that Figure in Shimmering Light get too close. I have a feeling it's not here to help us."
I know we're outmatched by whatever force is at work here, but I also know that together, Merrin and I can face whatever horrors this place may hold. And so, with a deep breath and a steadying grip on my mace, I step forward onto the shifting ledge, ready to fight for our lives.
