Round 174 Transcript
Episode 1 · Episode Round 1

Varrika takes another step forward, her eyes fixed on the stairs. As she does, the air grows colder, and the crystal formations around her seem to vibrate with an otherworldly energy. Merrin follows closely behind, her crossbow at the ready. She can feel the weight of the weapon in her hands, a comforting presence in the face of the unknown dangers that lurk in the darkness ahead. Varrika stops at the bottom of the stairs, her gaze fixed on a large, crystal-encrusted pool that fills the center of the room. The pool seems to be surrounded by a halo of magical energy, and Varrika can feel its power calling to her.
I stare at the crystal-encrusted pool, my heart pounding in my chest as I take in its otherworldly beauty. The magical energy that surrounds it seems to pulse and dance before my eyes, and I can feel its power calling to me like a siren's song.
But even as I'm drawn to the pool's allure, I know that we must be on our guard at all times. This realm is filled with unknown dangers, and I have no doubt that whatever lies beneath the surface of that crystal-clear water may be just as treacherous as anything else we've faced so far.
I turn to Varrika, my eyes searching her face for any sign of hesitation or fear. "What do you think?" I ask, my voice barely above a whisper. "Should we try to cross it, or is there some other way forward?"
I know that time is of the essence, and that we can't afford to tarry long in this place. But even so, I'm reluctant to leap blindly into the unknown, no matter how powerful the allure of that pool may be. And so, I wait for Varrika's response, my hand resting on the hilt of my crossbow as I scan the room for any hint of danger or salvation alike.
I peer into the pool, my eyes narrowing as I try to make out any hint of what lies beneath the crystal-clear surface.
I turn to Merrin, my eyes searching her face for any sign of hesitation or fear. "I don't know about you," I say, my voice a low growl, "but I'm not too keen on leaping into the unknown like this. We don't know what's waiting for us on the other side, and I'd rather not take any chances if we can avoid it."
I scan the room, my eyes searching for any other way forward. The crystal formations seem to stretch up into the darkness above, their sharp edges glinting in the faint light that filters down from somewhere high above. But for now, the pool seems to be the only obvious path ahead.
And so, with a sigh of resignation, I turn back to Merrin, my hand resting on the hilt of my mace as I prepare to face whatever challenges may await us on the other side of that crystal-clear water. "Alright," I say, my voice grim. "Let's do this. But stay close, and keep your eyes peeled for any sign of trouble. We don't know what we might be facing down there, so we need to be ready for anything."
