Round 105 Transcript
Episode 1 · Episode Round 1

As I gaze at the glowing stone, its message seems to pulse with an ominous energy. "Binding = Breaking" it reads, etched in fiery letters across its surface. Suddenly, the ground beneath us shudders, and the pit yawns open wider. A faint whispering fills the air, echoing off the walls: "Give up... give up...". The magical force field holding Varrika suspended midair begins to crackle with energy, its seals pulsating faster as the magic wanes. A low rumble echoes through the pit, and I realize that the tower's walls are starting to destabilize, threatening to collapse at any moment. Merrin's eyes snap towards Serrine, her expression a mix of urgency and determination. "We need to figure out what The Voice means by 'binding' before it's too late!"
Merrin's eyes dart around the pit, her mind racing as she tries to piece together the clues before them. "The Voice said the answer lies in what binds us together," she mutters, more to herself than to Serrine. Her hand instinctively reaches for her mace, fingers wrapping around its solid weight.
She takes a step closer to the pit, her gaze fixed on the glowing stone at its center. "But what if that's not what it means at all?" Her words are hushed, almost reverent as she speaks them out loud. The air around the stone seems to shimmer, the energy emanating from it pulsing in time with Merrin's racing heart.
Merrin's eyes flick to the shadows that dance along the pit's edges, and a chill runs down her spine. "The Voice is playing games with us," she says, her voice barely above a whisper. "Trying to keep us off balance. But if we can figure out what she really means..."
She trails off, her mind whirling with possibilities. The crystal, the pit, the riddle... it all seems so intertwined, like a complex web of secrets waiting to be unraveled.
Merrin's gaze is drawn back to the glowing stone, its fiery letters seeming to burn into her retinas. "Whatever happens next," she says, her voice filled with grim determination, "we'll face it together. And we'll save Varrika too. That's a promise."
Varrika strains against the magical force field holding her suspended midair, her heart pounding as she listens to Merrin and Serrine's frantic words. "The Voice is playing games, trying to keep us off balance," she mutters under her breath, her eyes fixed on the glowing stone at the pit's center.
She shifts her weight, testing the limits of her confinement once more. The magical seals pulse faster at her efforts, a warning of impending activation. "Merrin, Serrine... whatever you're going to do, you need to do it now before this whole damn tower comes crashing down around us!"
Varrika's voice is strained, her usual gruff demeanor cracking with fear for her companions. "Don't let the shadows take hold. Hold onto each other, hold onto yourselves. The darkness wants to unravel us, but our strength is in standing together. Just... just don't forget that."
She takes a deep breath, steeling herself against the rising panic that threatens to overwhelm her. "And whatever happens, don't forget about Varrika," she adds, her voice barely audible over the rumble of the collapsing tower. "I may be trapped, but I'm not helpless. Find a way to get me out of this force field, and I'll show you what a dwarf with a mace can do."
Varrika's words are met with an ominous silence, broken only by the distant whispers of an unseen presence. She strains her ears, trying to catch any hint of Merrin and Serrine's movements in the darkness beyond the pit. But all she can hear is the pulsing of the magical seals, counting down to some unknown fate.
She closes her eyes, taking a moment to center herself amidst the chaos. "Whatever you're facing out there," she whispers, more to herself than to anyone else, "I know you'll find a way. Merrin, Serrine... just stay alive. That's all I ask."
With that, Varrika settles into a crouch, her hands gripping the hilt of her mace as she prepares for whatever may come. The force field holding her suspended midair begins to crackle with energy, its seals pulsating faster as the magic wanes. But Varrika refuses to give in to the darkness, her eyes fixed on the pit's edge and the faint hope of rescue that still flickers in her heart.
