As we stand at the edge of the pit, the glowing stone's message seems to pulse with an ominous energy. "Binding = Breaking" it reads, etched in fiery letters across its surface. Merrin's eyes are fixed on the stone, her brow furrowed in concentration. Suddenly, the ground beneath us shudders, and the pit yawns open wider. A faint whispering fills the air, echoing off the walls: "Give up... give up...". Serrine's eyes widen as she gazes at the crystal in her hand, its power surging through her veins like a living thing. "What if the answer is not what we think?" Serrine asks, her voice laced with uncertainty. "What if 'binding' doesn't mean our connection to each other, but something else entirely?"

Merrin's eyes snap towards Serrine, her expression a mix of surprise and intrigue. "What do you mean?" she asks, her voice barely above a whisper.

Merrin

Merrin · Rogue

I feel a chill run down my spine at Serrine's words. The binding... what if it's not our connection to each other? What if it's something else entirely? My eyes dart around the pit, taking in every detail of the shadows that dance along its edges. The ground beneath us trembles again, and I can feel the weight of the crystal's influence bearing down on me like a physical pressure. Serrine takes a step closer to the pit, her hand still gripping the hilt of her mace. "The Voice said that the answer lies in the very thing that binds us together," she says, her voice filled with grim determination. "But what if that's not what it means at all?"

I nod slowly, my mind racing as I try to piece together the clues before us. The crystal, the pit, the riddle... it all seems so intertwined, like a complex web of secrets waiting to be unraveled. "We need to think outside the box," I say, my voice barely above a whisper. "The Voice is playing games with us, trying to keep us off balance. But if we can figure out what she really means..."

I trail off, my eyes fixed on the glowing stone before us. The air around it shimmers with an otherworldly energy, and I can feel the weight of the crystal's influence bearing down on me like a physical pressure. "Whatever happens next," I say, my voice filled with grim determination, "we'll face it together. And we'll save Varrika too. That's a promise."

Varrika

Varrika · Fighter

Varrika strains against the magical force field holding her suspended midair. "Merrin, Serrine... I can't see what you're up against, but whatever it is, don't trust anything in this accursed place! The Voice's riddles are twisted, meant to lead us astray. If you're not sure of something, step back and look at it another way. We've faced impossible odds before, but the key is trusting your own judgment over any words that speak out of shadows."

She shifts her weight, testing the limits of her confinement. The magical seals pulse faster at her efforts, a warning of impending activation. "I don't know what's coming next, but I can feel the magic waning. Merrin, Serrine - whatever you're going to do, you need to do it now before this whole damn tower comes crashing down around us! Just... just stay alive. We'll figure a way out of this together, like we always have."

Varrika's voice is strained, her usual gruff demeanor cracking with fear for her companions. "And whatever happens, don't let the shadows take hold. Hold onto each other, hold onto yourselves. The darkness wants to unravel us, but our strength is in standing together. Just... just don't forget that. Promise me."
