The air in the hidden chamber grew thick with apprehension as the two women faced an impossible choice. Before them stretched a corridor that pulsed with an otherworldly light, beckoning them deeper into the unknown. Behind them, the sounds of pursuit grew more menacing by the second—a chorus of growls and wet tearing that spoke of hungry things closing in.

Jeane's wings beat rapidly, her crimson eyes scanning the corridor ahead as she considered Seraphine's hesitation. Every moment we stand here debating is another moment those things catch up to us, she said, her voice tight with urgency. The sorceress reached out with her bloodline magic, trying to sense what pursued them through the stone walls.

Seraphine met Jeane's gaze, seeing the fear and determination warring in those crimson eyes. She knew the succubus was right—they had no time for debate. Whatever was sealed in that chamber... it's not just undead. It's something else entirely, something ancient and... The words died on her lips as another wave of growling echoed through the chamber.

The elf scholar took a step back from the strange door handle, her hand falling to her side. The pulsing light from the corridor seemed to call to her, promising secrets or salvation—she couldn't tell which. But the rumble behind them was growing louder, more insistent. We have no choice, she said finally, her voice barely above a whisper. We go forward.

Jeane nodded grimly, her wings settling against her back as she drew her crossbow. Stay close, she murmured, leading the way into the corridor that seemed to pulse with anticipation—or hunger—as they stepped deeper into the heart of the cursed tower.
