Round 2 Transcript

Episode 1 · Episode Round 2

N

Narrator · Narrator

The Narrator restates the undertaking plainly, fixes the stakes in the room, and presses the cast to make their positions clear before the meeting can end.

J

Jeane · Sorcerer

I've had enough of dancing around the abyss. I will participate if there are no half-measures involved. If we're going into that death-trap, then we go with a strategy that accounts for the worst-case scenario. That means contingencies for capture, escape routes mapped in advance, and most importantly—a secondary objective beyond just grabbing the sword and running. We need to understand what those necromancers are doing there, what their true purpose is, because if they're more than just guards with a fancy weapon, then we need that intelligence before we walk into their lair blind.

H

Halie · Cleric

I will participate under two conditions: First, I need incontrovertible proof that there's a viable exit strategy—that's not just 'we'll wing it.' And second, we leave behind the option of destroying the sword entirely if keeping it proves more dangerous than its potential value. I won't be party to unleashing a power we can't control just to line our pockets or win some noble's war.

M

Merrin · Rogue

I'll participate, but I've got conditions. We're walking into a death trap, plain and simple. If we're going to do this, then we need to be ready for everything - traps, undead, dark sorcerers, you name it. I want a thorough recon of the tower layout before we set foot inside those walls. And when we go in, I'm taking point on the locks and wards. No rushing headlong into the unknown - we take our time, disable any threats, and get out with the prize intact. It's the only way we stand a chance of coming back from this mad quest alive.

S

Seraphine · Wizard

I watch the others state their positions, each one painting a picture of impending danger and necessary precautions. As the silence settles after Merrin's words, I feel a familiar thrill mix with the apprehension coiling in my gut.
My voice is steady when I finally speak, though a tremor runs through my frame at the memory of the tower's legend.
I will participate, but I have one non-negotiable condition: we must bring back knowledge. Not just the sword, but everything we can learn about what lies within that place, what these necromancers are truly doing there. The Time-Splitting Sword is a myth that has intrigued scholars for generations; to simply take it without understanding its purpose or the nature of the magic that binds it... I pause, letting the weight of my words hang in the air. It would be like plucking a star from the sky and not knowing how it burns.
My eyes meet each person's in turn, showing both my resolve and a flicker of the fear I keep carefully hidden. We may be risking our lives, but if we fail to grasp the deeper meaning behind this quest, then what was it all for? I am no mere mercenary; my mind demands answers as much as my body craves victory. If we are to walk into the mouth of darkness, let us do so with purpose beyond profit or glory. Let us seek the truth that lies at its heart.

V

Varrika · Fighter

I'm in, but I've got a few conditions of my own. First off, we're not storming in like a bunch of half-cocked adventurers. We scope it out first, find the weak spots, and plan our approach. Second, I want a clear path to the objective and an even clearer path out. No getting lost in labyrinths or getting cornered by undead horrors. And lastly... I level a stern look around the table. I don't care how powerful this sword is supposed to be. If it starts acting up, if it starts causing more trouble than it's worth, we leave it behind. No arguments, no second chances. We walk away with our skins intact or not at all. Those are my terms.
