Phase: escalating

The darkness of the tunnel swallowed the last remnants of sunlight, leaving only an inky blackness that seemed to have a life of its own. The air was heavy with the scent of damp earth and decay, a noxious odor that clung to the skin like a shroud. In the distance, the ground trembled in a rhythmic pattern, three pulses beating out a warning that echoed through the passage.
Gravedigger Renn stumbled again, his eyes wide with terror, as he begged for them to follow him into the darkness of the tunnel. His voice cracked under the strain of fear and desperation. The bioluminescent walls writhe and pulse with their movement, casting eerie shadows across the passage. A faint scent of ozone wafted through the air, mingling with the musky salt smell that permeated the tunnel.
Silra stepped forward, her gaze fixed on Gravedigger Renn with a mixture of suspicion and wariness. "Informant stays behind us where we can watch him better," she said coolly, her voice barely above a whisper. The elf rogue woman maintained non-aggression posture while staying ready for immediate violence, her eyes scanning the pulsing walls for any sign of movement.
Sister Hale followed closely behind, her hand instinctively moving to the silver holy symbol at her breast. Jeane led the way, her eyes scanning the glowing walls for any sign of movement. The three-pulse rhythm beneath their feet continued steady, deliberate, like a heartbeat or a warning drumroll. Gravedigger Renn's fear was obvious, but Sister Hale sensed that it didn't necessarily mean betrayal, just poor impulse control.
As they advanced deeper into the passage, the scent of ozone grew stronger, and the ground trembled once more beneath their feet. The bioluminescent walls pulsed faster in response, casting an otherworldly glow across the tunnel. Whatever was down here was definitely responding to their presence, and Silra's instincts told her that they were being watched.
