As Silra watched the ground tremble in that deliberate three-pulse rhythm, her eyes narrowed with suspicion. Whatever was down there knew exactly where they were and how many of them there were, responding to their presence with an unmistakable pattern. The air vibrated with tension as she stepped forward, her hand drifting away from her dagger hilt, her movements economical and controlled.

Sister Hale followed closely behind, her hand resting on the hilt of her holy symbol, her eyes scanning the tunnel entrance for any sign of movement or intent. Jeane stood at the rear, her crimson eyes scanning both dark passages, her gaze lingering on the fork in the tunnel where Silra had paused. The rhythmic tremors were a clear warning – three-pulse pattern was too deliberate for random seismic activity or cave collapse.

Gravedigger Renn stumbled backward, his eyes wide with fear, as the City Guard moved to intercept him. "Wait, wait! I can help you," he begged, holding up his hands. Jeane stepped forward, her hands raised in a calming gesture, and Sister Hale's gaze flickered towards the Guard, her expression wary. The air was heavy with unspoken threats – old city traps, whatever was down there, and the Devouring – all responding to their presence like a dark symphony.

The ground trembled again, the bioluminescent light pulsating faster now as they gathered at the fork. Silra's hand tightened around her dagger hilt, her senses on high alert, while Sister Hale's fingers drummed against the symbol at her belt, ready to draw it if needed. Jeane's eyes darted between the tunnel walls and the entrance, her mind racing with tactical possibilities – maximum advantage and clear lines of sight were crucial in this uncertain situation.
